MY VIEW: TODAY CARDIFF TOOK ON RELEGATION THREATENED QPR A

Mon Jan 01, 2024 4:55 pm

MY VIEW:

TODAY CARDIFF TOOK ON RELEGATION THREATENED QPR AND BOY CARDIFF WERE MADE TO WORK HARD FOR THE 3PTS.

City won’t get much easier opposition than QPR and they nearly threw it away.

WELL BULUT HAS DONE HIS SIDE / CLOSE TO PLAY-OFFS NOW YOUR SIDE IT TAN.

Cardiff totally controlled the first-half, QPR were very poor and you can see why they are in a relegation battle.

Then Cardiff were so sloppy in the 2nd-half and they let QPR be the better team for long periods.

But a win is a win and City won’t have to worry about the bottom 3 just keep looking at top 6 and you never know.

City now have a break from the league and can hopefully bring in the 4-6 new players.

WOW CARDIFF ARE SO CLOSE TO 6TH PLACE:

FIRST:HALF:It had been all Cardiff. 16th min GOAL! QPR 0-1 Cardiff City (Goutas)
Cardiff ahead and they deserved it. Ralls with a trademark inswinging corner. Goutas rises and you have to say it's a wonderful header, placed right into the corner. He's such a threat from set pieces.

It was so comfortable for Cardiff and virtually all one way traffic other than the final but.

That midfield three of Wintle, Ralls and Siopis were having a seriously impressive game. All three of them making their QPR counterparts' lives nightmares in the first half.

SECOND-HALF: Why why Cardiff just let QPR come at them:
52nd min:
GOAL! QPR 1-1 Cardiff City (Smyth)
Substitute Rayan Kolli sends in a deep cross and it's over Collins at the back post. Paul Smyth ghosts in and sends a low shot in at the near post.

59th min: Etete off, Bowler on.
Etete did nothing

Colwill taken off. Tanner on.
Then bang:

2-1! Wintle with a Ralls-esque swinger from the corner and Begovic makes a hash of it. Ng heads it into an empty net! YES

82nd min:
Collins off, Panzo on.

Siopis off, Adams on.

Attritional stuff, but it's an amazing feat being where we are with so many L1 players in our start-up

Perhaps, just perhaps he is a decent manager

Collins nearly cost us the three points, but we got the win we deserved.

Says a lot that we’ve been on a poor run but are only three points off the play offs.

I thought it was a gifted winner.

Their keeper was on his way to being the MOTM with 3 very good saves. Then he misread a Ralls corner leaving NG an open goal.

Game could have gone either way as we got further into the 2nd half. We got the break but struggled to hold them back where we relied on an exception save from Alnwich in the end.

Great game for the neutral not so for us.

it cant be just me who thinks collins has fallen off it alot? he just seems a yard off it each and every time. buzzing with the 3 points maybe it will give the nod to players who was thinking about joining us the nudge needed ?

I believe the shackles are well and truly on Collins. Buluts system is imperative and the full-backs tuck inside and rarely overlap and have a run and that's why we were all excited at the beginning of last season. He isn't a great defender though

Interesting times which I hope by end of this month will turn to exciting times.

If Bulut had lost this one which was possible, I think he may have felt a bit of pressure, given it would have been 12 defeats in all so far in those circs. The saying rings true: fine margins decide seasons and managers careers.

Fingers crossed that we can move forward with some more incisive attacking football for the rest of the season.
