Firstly, we haven’t the quality of player to do this, secondly, it works for teams like Man City but is a turgid and boring way to play football.
It is a clinical and structured way of playing football but Fck me it’s boring to watch. Colwill and Tanner are the only two that try anything that resembles free thinking and flair like football.
I’m not sure I even have a point to this rant haha just frustrated at the way we play football at the moment

10 games of crap football makes you this way.
Amazingly we have won 3 of those games but with late goals. Goals that might save our season but overall this playing out from the back is not working. I favour playing it in midfield, win that battle and you control the game.

I think rather than try to fit the players we have to a style of play, let’s play to our strengths which is not passing the ball around like prime Barca

Correct!! Just look at the technical and inch perfect passing skills shown by the Leicester numbers 23 and 3 last night who picked out their respective right and left wingers, (who both hugged their respective touchlines so they were always at least 10 yds away from Collins and Ng each time they received the ball). They tore us a new one and we fell for it throughout the 90 minutes. That's why they are top of the league and we are 14th - the calibre of player throughout the team. We have a very long way to go.

I hate the copybook tactics of modern managers, barely any sign of ingenuity or thinking. All doing the same thing going after the same type of players that we can't afford so we get the Btec versions who can't do what they were brought in to do.
This is why the Warnocks of the world have been around so long, they have a simple way of playing get players who can play it and motivate them.
Football is a balance of ability (skills) and physicality. For a very long time championship teams favoured athletes over footballers but the Jacks changed that when they couldn't go after 6' monster so went all in on skill over physicality. Citeh can afford to get both then it is a trade-off. Coping Citeh or Barca is madness, but they are all inflicted by it !!!!
We should have stuck Etette and Meite close together and smacked it long all game yesterday

Agreed mate, when we did play balls over the top it started to concern their defence

We dont need to go long necessarily. Just a bit more direct

Agree with the opinions here.
You'd expect Bulut to know what formation/ tactics to use against a superior possession based team like Leicester BUT he did his usual of playing immobile Etete on his own with 2 wingers tucked in next to him!
You have to ask why our fullbacks and wingers were not linking or trying to overlap? Why weren't our wingers actually playing as wingers and hugging the touchline?
Couldn't Bulut have gone 442? If he did, we may have got some more crosses in and troubled them.

This is why Runarsson and Panzo were signed.
Runarsson has obviously been with Arsenal. They play out from the back from the first team all the way down to the youngest youth levels. So we assumed Runarsson could do it, but he can’t.
Panzo played out from the back for Coventry but hasn’t had many chances because McGuinness and Goutas are having a good season. Don’t know if Forest can recall but wouldn’t be surprised should they do that if they can.
