What! The Echo In Neath

Tue Oct 05, 2010 7:26 pm

Popped into Tesco Express in Waunceirth Neath last Monday and saw the Echo being sold!! At the same time a middle aged bloke walked in wearing a Jack top as I walked past reading the back page on Bellamy. To see him looking at me reading the paper was a picture. I texted all the lads last week to try and outsell the Gypo Post in our area lol. :D

Carl, With Skewen right on the Border, it's spread further West than i thought :D :ayatollah: . I suppose it will sell a lot more copies in this area for its Rugby coverage when the Six Nations starts .

Hi B

I think the Echo has suffered considerably from declining sales in recent times, (mainly due to its content  ) due to Online publications. Therefore it makes sense for those at Thompson House to widen it its circulation coverage. The Echo, i believe is also available in Newport and has been for many years.

You never know they might even come up with a name change (The West, Mid , South and East Wales Echo)

Hi Joff, Long time no see mate. I thought the same as you wondering why it is so far down West. The circulation must be poor but us Neath Blues welcome it in this part of the country. Maybe they should call it the Neath And Swansea Echo lol :D

they are getting desperate to increase circulation.
disgusting price for a rag like that,no wonder sales are down.

Well they don't sell it in Chepstow. But to be honest I don't really mind as it's content is generally shit and they only reason I view it online is to read the sport. And the coverage on that isn't the best. It must be a west thing rather than us defending the frontline!

Been down here in Pembs for a couple if months and not seasonal either.
As its now a morning paper it makes sense to counter declining sales by sending it out with that egg paper the Western mail. There are an awful lot of expats who moved down this way from the valleys who appreciate the echo-shite as it now is. At least there is decent footie coverage.

I agree but to see the paper with City coverage in the Sport pages next to Gyppoland brings a smile.
