Swansea City as a squad are strangers

Thu Dec 28, 2023 8:05 pm

Swansea City as a squad are strangers, their confidence levels now so far gone it’s looking like a sub standard experiment in human behaviour with a ball thrown in. Teams reach these levels by skimping on the necessary investment, those areas where you have to invest if you want to be taken seriously. Swansea don’t do that, they look for the very cheapest players ( Yates for Piroe ) and then take a punt on them.

I'm not really sure what your point is here...? :?

All Mickey taking aside, a look at them over the last season or two shows they are as much in transition as we are and last season finished well above us and only 3 points off the play-offs under a manager they disliked, yet who got a better job at a better club now challenging for promotion to the Premier League. That said team thrashed them 5 - 0 on the weekend says more about the quality of the same Southampton team that also dod a job on us...

They are a mixed bag this season but not without their moments and they are pretty resolute, ciming back in several games very late on...

Currently, they are 6 points behind us in a division that is as open as it has been bar the top 2 or 3

I enjoy 'knocking' the Swans (their thicko 'Jack' supporters who come on here more) but as I said, I'm not sure what your point is...? :?

They've been in transition since Premier League relegation. They seem to have a policy of signing players under 23yrs with couple of exceptions rather than investing the millions they made on player sales on proven players; just youngsters with possible resale value.

We've been a car crash of a club but they are no better off than us despite good managers who cannot wait to leave and good players they cannot wait to sell?

The owners seem to have just a bit more football knowledge than Tan and it shows. They had no manager for many weeks, despite numerous being out of work. Stoke poached one from another club. Thats decisive action, no waiting to see if they could get a cheaper alternative.

Transfer Window opens in few days, so not much time to put a new man in charge to sort out players coming or going; but thats their problem, thankfully :ayatollah:

Allan, I see your points but I still don't see what the OP was getting at...

Your points are correct; but my point is we are only now restoring the status quo and have nothing yet with which to be strutting our stuff. We are only 6 points ahead and still a little inconsistent in our play...

Our future looks a lot brighter though and you can always tell when members of the 'Jack Creche' avoid coming on here to be humiliated...  :ayatollah:

Chris I take it as because they keep changing managers as much as we do plus they get in so many loanees every season (cheaper than signing them outright) they don't get a settled side so are strangers ? Why people lord the way they are run baffles me as like said 100m+ player sales 7yrs in premier league and rely on sales to stay in credit and no nearer promotion than we are? Sounds like a typical championship club... nothing special.... :old:

There was no point intended.
As you can see, I have not commented in my post and just posted what I read elsewhere.
It is good to see them struggling though. If you go on any of their message boards, they are in meltdown over their owners. After all, they have given it to us over Tan for years.
Seeing as a lot of our fans see them as our main rivals, and the fact our away game is will soon be upon us, I just thought I would put up what I read, not to make a point but out of interest because of rivalry and maybe start some debate?

A lot of their fans think they are for the drop.

Sorry for not making a point. ;)

Indeed they are in meltdown over their owners.

I know a few of their fans have deserted the club just like we had a number of fans leave us over the Rebrand. For me I always have felt they were doomed to be where they are now when these new owners came in. If obvious their strategy is sell high and bring in low. It only takes a bad season to drop then its a struggle to get back to where you were.

Some say they are in Transition. For me they have been through that and it has not worked for them. They did well last season but there were cracks there. This season I believe they will survive but if they continue with this Sell High Buy Low they could very much be in a relegation battle next season.
