Joe Ralls: “Tiredness / The Team”

Wed Dec 27, 2023 2:42 pm

Joe Ralls:

“Tiredness is part of it at this time of year for the team.”

“We have some tired bodies and minds.”

“It’s such a congested period of fixtures. We know how much the squad is going to be used. “

“There were some tired bodies out there and maybe some tired decision-making at times. It wasn’t to be, but we’ll take the positives as we never gave up against Plymouth.”

"It was an end-to-end game, we’re disappointed not to come away with the three points, but it was probably a fair result in the end."

“We have had a good start and we are looking to continue it.”

We are all tired including those who work 6-7 days a week. I’m tired of seeing our team start so slowly and on the back foot at the start of nearly every game. How about taking the game by the scruff of the neck at the start and just go for it. Maybe EVERYONE will feel less tired then.

Busy time of year with so many games in a short space of time.

Others may say that every team have to deal with it which is true.

But that’s where our lack of squad depth shows. Which is what happens when you can’t spend money for two transfer windows.

The likes of Leicester, Southampton, Leeds, Ipswich, West Brom etc can afford to rest a few players and still have a very strong team. That’s not the case for us.

While all Championship clubs will be able to select max 25 players for their 46-game campaign.

We are all equal on players numbers , funny when I said we were bringing in crap the last few seasons I was slated.

Cardiff had three years after being in the Premiership with money coming in and total Mismanagement fucked us from the top.

Nope. If he’d had an op it would add another 6-8 weeks to his recovery. I think Errol mentioned something similar at the outset of the injury announcement .

True, but like I said other teams have much better strength in depth than us.

We haven’t been able to spend money for two windows so that’s not a surprise. That’s why they impose punishments like that.

Nobody can seriously say our second team is anywhere near as good as Leicester’s.

But Ned,

The truth is for 3 consecutive seasons we were in a great position of having a good income coming in like the clubs today.

We messed it up.

Everyone last season and the season before were raving about our new players and 12 Accademy players that had come through.

There are a dozen other clubs similar to us now and that’s why we are thankfully able to stay near 6th position.

We all know Xmas month is hectic and No player, manager or club should moan as it’s the same for the majority of clubs.

Just grab your bollox and crack on through boys FFS! Professional sportsmen here. You wouldn't have heard this type of moaning back in the 80s and 90s! No excuses for starting matches passively, especially at home. :-)

Always seem strange when you see top teams like Man City - play the same team week in week out with champions league mid week and cup competitions and then premiership and never hear that they are tried. Not only they are better players they are fitter and stronger. Our fitness and how we train before games should be much better.

I’ve seen many teams promoted without change things to much, plus it’s only Ramsey and O’Dowda who have been missing regular and we actually had a great run without them.
We know and knew we could never depend on Ransey when we brought him in.

Managers / players making excuses about tiredness is pathetic.

It can be used as a convenient excuse when things aren't going so well.

I feel our fitness levels could be better to be honest. Bulut tends to make the full five substitutions every game so with the exception of the back four it's not like all of the midfielders or strikers are playing 90 minutes every game.

We certainly don't play a high pressing game where we are hassling the opposition and trying to get it back as soon as we lose it and I can't really say I've seen any great movement off the ball from our front players which could lead them to be shattered.

Bulut's coaching team have of course all come from Turkey and perhaps they have been a bit unprepared for the relentless slog of the Championship and the fitness levels required?

Interesting David,

As Wez put out the players were the fittest they’ve been for years.
Then the other day he totally back tracked lol
