Collins.....?

Way too slow at left back again today, looks shot. They played on him with Whittaker 2nd half,
right in front of us.
We need strong cover asap at left back

He’s going to AFCON anyway so a new left back will be signed.

This system limits the only thing he is good at, running. He was signed by Morison as a wingback in a 3 central defensive system, and in truth we only saw him for a few games.

As a disciplined fullback in Bulut's inverted philosophy, he is wanting, he just does not have the skill set. I can see Bagan suiting this style a lot more. He is quite a cute technical footballer.

I am unsurprised that (I believe his contract is due June) he hasn't signed an extension

Yup spot on. He could be a surprise out going in January, has struggled especially last few games . The Plymouth boss was constantly
nagging Whittaker to pull wide right 2nd half. He got behind us a few times, looks an excellent young player, alongside Gillesphey their right back :bluescarf:

Yeah, Collins suited the way Morison was trying to play with over lapping full backs.

However, Bulut prefers them to come inside, it doesn’t suit JC’s game.
As another poster has already said in this topic, will be interesting if Bagan is recalled, as he is a more technical player and May suit this system.

Collins would look alot better if he had someone ahead of him in position, the amount of times our full backs get the ball, look forward only to find our wingers are narrow and in the centre of the pitch, by the time anyone gets into the open space the opposition have shifted across and covered the space.

Last few games I've seen Collins he doesn't want to run with it either. Numerous times the space is there for him to run into. He doesn't and leaves grant having to drop deep to get ball or Collins stops puts foot on ball looks up turns and passes inside to cbs

Anyone think there's a hint of "I want to stay fit for AFCON" in his performances recently? He doesn't seem anywhere near as dynamic as before his major injury; which is obviously another major factor.

If I was Collins I would much rather play in the higher end of the Championship, one of the best leagues in world football rather than play in AFCON which personally I don’t care about at all. Surely most fans outside Africa aren’t bothered about their international tournament or have I got it wrong?

He’s come back from an ACL injury and has been our only left back, not surprised his form has dropped off a cliff.

What a whopper of a comment. Of course you don’t care about the AFCON like Collins might, you’re not African

 Its a major tournament, representing his country. I haven't had a chat with him about it, but I'll make the assumption that it means alot to him.

Great point that is and causing issues with the full backs both sides not wanting to knock forward channel balls. Why the manage and coaches narrow the pitch is a mystery? WE need a Willie Anderson hugging the touchline, taking his fullback on the outside, popping an early ball into the box for Kieffer to nod home.........ER wait a minute!!?! :bluescarf:
