To be promoted to The Premier League, god help them
Equal rights only works if they are good enough.

She must have improved 1000% since our game.

Totally agree was absolute garbage when she was our ref a few weeks ago

Looked completely out of her depth and unable to keep up with play

All for female referees but only if they are good enough!!

That’s ridiculous, was awful in our game.

Does seem a little like positive discrimination.

She was alright for the 1st 20mins then it went tits up, and she completely lost control after falling over

Nothing to do with being female, almost every single ref we’ve had this year has been awful.

At least she will have VAR to help her out .... Good Luck with that One ;)

Good luck to her...!

The world has changed and it was always going to happen; as will a female Head Coach/Manager in due course (forgetting the 'used' 5-minute wonder at Forest Green Rovers, Alumna Hannah Dingley...

I wish Rebecca Welch the best of fortunes...! :ayatollah:

This should have nothing to do with gender. If she is good enough and has built up the various degrees of experience coming up through the various refereeing levels then great, however I suspect that she is being pushed as a result of political correctness.
As an ex-referee myself I thought she feel well short of required standard and I believe that she lost her way in our match to such an extent that her recognition of the man's game which is higher paced and a good deal more physical than women's football, was way off the mark.
I do think she needs to gain more experience of refereeing men's football at lower levels i.e. 1st & 2nd Divisions as well as National league, pushing her too quickly into Premier League will not do her any favors what so ever.

I would like to wish her all the very best in her refereeing career.

The scrutiny and spotlight on her in the Prem will be on another level of intensity. She's being thrown to the lions there.

You can bet Sky have told Neville and Carragher to be super nice and bland in their assessment of her performances!

I think we had Sam Alison against Coventry and i thought he was good, I looked him up and he is an ex pro on a fast track programme.

Rebecca lost control of our game midway through and guessed the last 20 minutes. At least it will double Joey Bartons twtter feeds :o

I agree she could be in for a tough time. Extra scrutiny and spotlight on her etc.
However, this will probably come from the set of fans who's team are on the losing side!

Ring any bells?

Seriously, good luck to her. Refereeing at any level is not an easy job.

Agree, he’s a good referee and ready for the step up.

They need more ex pros who retire early to be referees.
