Jones was probably the most exciting times, done on a shoestring and the fa cup season was brilliant

Big Frank for me he would watch 2 or 3 games a day picking up gems like Mark delaney and turn up watching kids teams on a Sunday morning he lived and breathed football Warnock deserves massive praise also for getting the club and fans back together and for getting us promoted

Jimmy Andrews for me - bringing in Adrian Alston and Tony Evans (one of the finest strike partnerships we have ever had), and the iconic Robin Friday.
Great times in that period of our great club

Warnock for me, I was at at a point do i continue supporting City the atmosphere was terrible all the supporters felt as low as I did we never improved from the terrible time of the red so bad down the City.
Warnock came in the atmosphere changed supporters enjoyed coming down and the football was better then he got us promoted in BLUE.
To be fair with a tiny bit more luck he would have kept us in the premiership but as a bloke he is a good man
and will always think in my view he was the best manager we ever had, Dave jones did well too but I just did not like Jones as I did Warnock

Dave jones for me.
Thu Dec 14, 2023 11:01 pm
I said what's his name?
Thu Dec 14, 2023 11:07 pm
I’m a bit younger than most of the replies on here!
The football under Dave Jones was brilliant.
But my choice would be Malky. Some great memories of his time - winning the league, League Cup final, Liverpool away supporting him.
Shame most of it was in red, but great memories nonetheless.

This is a tough one for me having seen some genuinely good managers over the years...
I've plumped for Dave Jones for taking us to the FA Cup Final and a series of near misses on the Premier League with a bunch of talented mongrels...
Beyond that, most of the names in this thread could arguably be selected, although I will always maintain Malky is excluded by the manner of his leaving...

In my time watching it has to be Neil Warnock - I've got so much admiration for that man. Runner up would be Dave Jones. Both had us punching well above our weight given the resources at our disposal and gave us some fantastic memories.

Frank burrows his second stint for me, stood on the bob bank as youngster watching the city brings back some grey memories. Was Wayne O’Sullivan playing for us then?

Eddie May was fun times at a low level in the mad old days.
Dave Jones gave us some great days out, overachieved and some great football memories.
Warnock gave us all a lift and also overachieved, he would have kept us up, if Sala hadn't taken that flight.
Joint first Warnock DJ, then May second.

For me it has to be Jimmy Scoular, our manager when I went to my first match in 1964. The era when Toshack and Clark put many teams to the sword was unforgettable. For pure football I would have to go for Dave Jones, although that will forever be a case of what might and should have been, given the players at his disposal.

For me it has to be Jimmy Andrews and Dave Jones - not for their achievements, but for the football we played under them. Both understood the need for strikers to play as a pair and with Alston & Evans and Chopra and Bothroyd we had entertaining football and we won a fair few games too...

Warnock before things went stale.
He was, and still is such a big personality in British football and had a great connection with the fans.
I loved his celebration with the fans from the pitch at the end of each victory. The swing of his right arm to conduct the cheers and that big grin.

Davie Jones. Some of the best days of my life watching city back then.
Some of the teams he put together, a joy to watch.

Sir Neil …close with Malky tho !

Dave Jones. Some of the best football and excitement I enjoyed as a fan. Really wish he has the Malky budget to strengthen and make the push.
