The Opposition's Manager

Wayne Rooney was appointed Birmingham manager in October.

He did a good job at Derby County, where he kept them in the Championship despite severe financial problems.

He also had a spell in charge of DC United in the MLS.

Opposition Dangerous Players

Siriki Dembele and Jay Stansfield each have five league goals this season.

Lukas Jutkiewicz is also someone who knows where the net is, although he was sent off for a bad challenge when we played them in the Carabao Cup earlier this season.

Head To Head

We have a good recent record against Birmingham, unbeaten in the last five meetings.

We have won three of those games, including our 3-1 win at St Andrews in the Carabao Cup earlier this season.

We also won both league games against them last season.

3 massive points up for grabs with Sheff Wed and Plymouth coming up, also.

Hull also, so i'd love 3 wins and a draw in our next 4.

“We’re In A Difficult Place”: Wayne Rooney Makes Admission About Birmingham City’s Poor Form -

Birmingham City boss Wayne Rooney has admitted that his side’s poor run of form can’t continue after yet another defeat on Friday night.

The former Derby County head coach has been in charge for nine games so far at St. Andrew’s and the Blues have picked up merely one win and two draws, losing six times.

The team’s only win under Rooney came at home to bottom-of-the-table Sheffield Wednesday and even still, it took an 81st minute goal from Jordan James to seal the three points.

We got to be winning this and go at them from the first whistle. Unlike today with Millwall

Wayne Rooney’s team come to Cardiff with only one win from their last nine games, with Rooney struggling big time and their fans on his back.

Spot on. Got to be more positive at home especially against teams like Millwall and Birmingham. I bet Millwall are gutted they didn't get some kind of result.

With a bit of luck the gaffer will start the team that finished Saturday. Colwill needs to be on the pitch to give use that attacking flair. Robbo not quite on it at the moment. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Cant wait for Ramsey to come back, the void in midfield is minding blowing atm. First half against Milwall you could see it, Bowler gets the ball, there no one near him to play off.

I hope he starts the team that finished second half, it was much better and stuff happened with Yak on the wing with Grant, Eteke up front and Colwill playing.

Id also keep Adams in front of the back 4 and play Wintle and Ralls give Sip a rest

Birmingham City could be without eight players at Cardiff as injuries mount for Wayne Rooney -

Latest Birmingham City news from BirminghamLive includes the injury latest before the meeting with Cardiff City on Wednesday night

Birmingham City's injury issues are mounting for manager Wayne Rooney ahead of the midweek trip to Cardiff City.

Captain Dion Sanderson and Cody Drameh missed the 2-0 defeat to Coventry on Friday night due to respective foot and ankle injuries. Blues skipper Sanderson wasn't able to maintain his ever-present record at the CBS Arena after reporting a mystery foot injury on Thursday morning.

Drameh, meanwhile, injured his ankle in training on Thursday afternoon. The right-back had been due to replace Ethan Laird in the starting line-up at Coventry. Laird has been ruled out until after the New Year with an injury sustained in the draw with Rotherham United.

To add to Rooney's misery, talented teenager George Hall is facing another spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury. Hall suffered a new problem during an outing for the under-21s last week and won't be available to Rooney for the foreseeable future.

Dion Sanderson
Injury: Foot

Sanderson lost his ever-present record in Blues' defence at Coventry due to a freak foot injury. Speaking about it after the game, Rooney said: “He woke up through the night with a real bad pain in his foot. We’re expecting him to be fit next week. It’s a strange one, we’re trying to get to the bottom of exactly what that is.”

Cody Drameh
Injury: Ankle

Drameh's issue is more straightforward. The on-loan Leeds United defender picked up an ankle injury in Blues' final training session before the Coventry game. Rooney explained: “Cody rocked his ankle right at the end of training yesterday. We were giving him until this morning to see if he was available today. We will know more over the next 24 hours with Cody.”

George Hall
Injury: Hamstring

Hall returned to training in early November after two months out with a hamstring injury and played two games for the under-21s to build up his fitness. After a small setback, Hall started a match for the U21s against Barnsley last week but it ended badly.

“George is injured again, so he will be out for another six to eight weeks. His other hamstring,” Rooney said. "We have been really careful with George so it’s very frustrating. We know he’s a very talented player. He played 82 minutes in the under-21s and he felt his opposite hamstring to the one that has been injured, and we scanned it. He will be out again.”

The enormously talented teenager has only played 58 minutes of first team football since April due to four separate hamstring injuries. Hall hasn’t been able to build on the brilliant breakthrough season which saw him crowned Blues’ Young Player of the Year in May.

Ethan Laird
Injury: Hip adductor

Influential Blues right-back Laird is set for another extended spell on the sidelines. The injury Laird picked up against Rotherham wasn’t initially thought to be serious, but scans revealed some damage in the hip region and he will miss Blues’ busy festive period.

“It’s not great,” Rooney said (December 6). “Ethan will probably be (out for) a couple of months.” Laird has already missed two months of football due to a hamstring injury this term.

Kevin Long
Injury: Calf

Long has missed Blues' last five matches after injuring his calf in training before the Sunderland match. The Irishman still hasn't returned to training. “Longy is still a couple of weeks away," said Rooney on December 7.

Keshi Anderson
Injury: Hamstring

Anderson suffered a bad hamstring injury against QPR on September 22 and is approaching three months out the team. The 28-year-old could boost Blues over the festive period after Rooney revealed that he is due to return to training imminently. "Keshi Anderson and Tyler Roberts will hopefully train with us next week," the Blues manager said (December 7).

Tyler Roberts
Injury: Calf

Roberts completed pre-season, despite having to manage a groin complaint towards the end of it, and started the opening day draw with Swansea City. He was withdrawn after 60 minutes and rested for the Carabao Cup victory over Cheltenham Town.

Alfie Chang
Injury: Knee

Chang is set for an extended period on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury during training on August 22. The midfielder was a fixture in Blues' matchday squads under former boss John Eustace and was playing the role of back-up to midfield pairing Krystian Bielik and Ivan Sunjic. Having undergone surgery on his injured ACL, Chang is now working in the gym at Blues' training base.

Wayne Rooney gives Sanderson and Drameh updates as Birmingham City injury investigation launched -

Latest Birmingham City news from BirminghamLive includes Wayne Rooney on Dion Sanderson and Cody Drameh's fitness ahead of the match at Cardiff City

Birmingham City captain Dion Sanderson is fit to return against Cardiff City after missing the defeat at Coventry due to a freak foot injury.

Sanderson lost his ever-present record this season after reporting pain in his foot in the build-up to the 2-0 defeat at the CBS Arena on Friday. Manager Wayne Rooney has confirmed Sanderson - who spent time on loan at Cardiff earlier in his career - is available for selection again after treatment.

“He’s fine now,” Rooney said. “As I said after the game, it was a strange one. He woke up at 2am with a massive pain in his foot. He was close to taking himself to the hospital. He came in and he was struggling to walk on it and he wasn’t available for that reason.

“He went for a scan and the scan showed a little bit of floating bone. We think that was triggering his nerve to cause the pain. He’s had a little bit of work on that and it’s moved the bone, that’s eased it up.
