I think it will get more members.....not sure about the money coming in tho.
my annoyance is why couldnt the members vote on this, the trust has no interactions at all with its members unless they turn up to a meeting which the vast majority wont. I dont think ive been asked to vote on anything in the last year, infact other than paying my money ive had nothing.

I can understand your frustration. We're working hard to improve things for members, including better and more frequent communication but being honest, it's difficult with the same few volunteers trying to move things forward (yeah, I know. Same old sob story

but not looking for sympathy

. Just being realistic what a few can achieve).
Have you got an up to date email address registered with the Trust? 'Cos we do use email to interact with members more than anything else. Certainly, every time we've met with the Club recently we've asked members to raise issues or give us questions they want asked. Sometimes, it's a tough call for the Board. Should we ask members their opinions on everything or make decisions as we've been elected to do?
Maybe you're right and we got it wrong in this instance but I do believe the Trust is moving slowly but surely in the right direction though not as quickly as we'd all like.

sorry if it sounds like im having more of a go than I meant to.
I appreciate all the work everyone does at the trust and will be renewing my membership no problem.
With regards to the interaction you are spot on and the email updates (which I have been getting) have been a great help. I personally voted for the people who wanted to see more interaction with the members. I just think more people would be interested if they had more of a say in terms of a vote - although im not sure on the logistics of that.
WIth my membership point im not sure there is a right and wrong, my thought/prediction is that you will end up with a few more members but ultimately with less cash, depending how you plan to take the trust forward that may or may not be a problem depending on the plans.
Anyway its easy for me to sit on my ass and put a point across lol just a thought thats all
One final question is do the U16's that have free membership get a vote?

No probs, mate. I know you're one of the good guys.
We'll probably lose some money but growing in numbers is more important to us in the long run.
Your U16 question is a good one. We decided in the end to follow CCFC's line on that i.e. over 16s are Adults but it does create an anomaly as under the Trust rules that we had to adopt, only members over 18 can vote in Trust Board elections. On all other matters, the views of under 18s should count though. At least, that's my personal opinion.

You've identified a big issue there. Any kind of a ballot except at a meeting is very expensive for us at the mo because of having to print and post ballot papers. The annual elections are one of our biggest single items of expense. I hope we can deliver some form of secure electronic voting before too long and then we could afford to be much more consultative. If you have any ideas on how to solve that problem, let me know, mate.

Thanks for all the replies

well answered and informative
LIke you say to get peoples votes is not easy, a paper ballet on everything would be costly and a waste of money, a poll is easy to make but to limit it to members and then to get all members involved would be very hard. Im not sure of the options and im in no way a computer "freak" so wouldnt know but I would hope at some point it would be possible and how it may work sometimes.
Anyway always good to have updates and replies

Have to admit that I find it relatively easy to communicate with the trust. I and other exiles find it impossible to attend meetings and functions on many occasions, however the trust are only an email away if I have and queries.
Keep up the good work

Well when Corky stepped down I offered my help as I was jobless to do anything I could to help and had no reply.
Interaction may not be the word, maybe um looking for more of a say/vote on matters to keep everyone mew involved - the reasons why they don't/ can't are above tho.

What happened to "Moving to a Different Beat". Imo, why not get a magazine going everyone home game. Doesn't need to be massive, just a small fanzine with interviews of players, or members of the trust. Like a Fanzine, sure people will buy it. Charge £1 for it, and donate 50p or so to the trust, and the other 50p to the Fred Keenor statue fund. the trust alone would make £200 if only 400 people buy it per match day.

I know what you mean Luke, it’s good that you raise these issues so that the trust can work on them.

You make a good point. It's embarrassing that the mag dies a death after the 1st issue was so well received.

The long-awaited 2nd issue will be coming out soon and will be free to members. We've been working on putting a team together who can deliver it regularly in future, probably once a quarter. Every home game would be nice but we just don't have enough content or enough volunteers to produce it that frequently.

In this day and age of the internet then surely online secure voting must be simple BUT I am not an IT guy so please dont all hurry to shoot me down in flames , its just a suggestion ?
