So we now know we will be without Aaron Ramsey for at least the Rotherham, Middlesbrough and Watford games.
I think on Saturday we should play with a recognised number ten, instead of the three of Ralls, Wintle and Siopis.
So who should take his place?
The two obvious candidates are Callum Robinson and Rubin Colwill.
Robinson is obviously the more experienced and has proven he is a threat when we're attacking. Scored a great goal on Wednesday.
Colwill has played more minutes than Robinson this season and started all three Carabao Cup games, doing well in each of them.
Who do you think should start?

Both. Robbo to start, Colwill to come on at HT/60mins
Thu Sep 28, 2023 7:12 pm
Robinson 100%, much more quality and experience

Rubin should start.
Waited long enough for his opportunity, and he has the ability to do it.
Give him the keys!

Don't think either will start. We will start with the same team that started at Sunderland. If Grant is ruled out with injury then Tanner would most probably replace him or possibly Etete. Depending on how we are performing I expect Robinson is more likely to be used as a substitute as he did not play the full 90 minutes at Blackburn.

I agree that either Robbo or Colwill should play that role and Siopis is a must in midfield with 1 of the other 2 .
That's if the other players up top are fit to start - whoever the manager starts with - We now have options to change .

I think he will go with Wintle Siopis and Ralls,

My only worry is Robinson is weak tracking back and loses a lot of 50 50 s

Colwill needs to start he can’t stay a promising youngster forever
This is a big season for Rubin and he has got to step up and grab this opportunity no more excuses

Time for Colwill to take his chance, he's probably fitter than Robinson at the moment. I'd love for him to have a stand out performance Saturday. Come on Rubin mate, pull those socks up and let's have it!

I’d definitely start with Colwill.
Although I didn’t see the Blackburn game I haven’t been impressed with Robinson’s effort in his sub appearances.
He needs more time getting fit before he starts for me.
Saying that he’s a very good player at this level and should get plenty of time on the pitch as the season progresses.
Colwill needs a run of games and this is the perfect time.

I'd try both. Strong competition for shirts now, the form player, plays.

I think the more pressing issue is filling the gap left by Grant. For this reason I can see Ugo moving across to cover and starting Ette(who deserves his chance).I think he will leave the midfield alone to start with anyway.

Either for me. But colwill just ahead on the fact he brings more players in.
Although robo and grant together again could be massive.

Take the young lad, Josh Beecher. Came on against Blackburn, and he put their full back on his arse 3 times, and looks to have very good ability on the ball.
Don’t know unless we give these lads a chance, but gave a decent account of himself on Wednesday.

I hope Bulut puts Beecher on the bench tomorrow ahead of Sawyers and Evans.

It will be Wintle.

Currently Joel Colwill; he seems ready to sieze his opportunity and Callum Robinson is coming back from a lay-off and might be better for us attacking later in a game...
Like others, I'm not so sure Erol Bulut will play either from the start (v Rotherham) with the Sunderland group starting the game...

Got a sneaky feeling you may be right, he has a good range of pass and bulut said he wanted to see more from him going forward, so I wouldn't be surprised to see ralls and siopis with wintle and colwill or robbo playing the last 20mins or so

Joel Colwill?
Do you know something I don’t Chris?
I’m hoping Rubin starts but, like you, I can see the same three starting todays game also.

Rubin colwillbdoesnt do enough for me without the ball , when he loses the ball he just stands still for me if he doesn't Start working harder he will not make it at championship level, he will be another promising younster that ends uo in league 2 or lower.

Well there’s no bigger culprit than Etete for that.
He either sits on the floor waving his arms or is stood still complaining every time he’s touched.
I do like him but he needs that drummed out of him.
Yes, Colwill has a lot to learn and a run of games could help propel him that bit quicker.

Well, its Wintle now who is barely an "8" forget a "10" but we are winning and that's all that counts.
Colwill needs to go out on loan and understand how he needs to make a team impact rather than just an offensive impact, otherwise, he is an L1/L2 talent who you carry defensively because of the offense skillset.
