When we speak about the last game, I have no new injuries. So I am glad. But we have some previous ones, like O’Dowda, today he started running on the field. Josh Bowler still has an injury.

Winning it without Ramsey on Tuesday, what’s approach with him?





First of all, Aaron Ramsey is very important for this club, for me and for the team. It’s not easy to not have him in the game.

But we showed - our players showed - we don’t have to concentrate only on one player. If it’s not Ramsey, it has to be someone else. Our company, our machine has to work always. It has to be the same performance if someone else plays.

Everyone has to fight for this. I cannot play until the end of the season with 13 or 14 players, I have 25 and I will use all of them. Injuries, cards, everyone has to be ready.

I said to the players who are not playing, in two weeks it could be different. They could be in the first XI and have to give 100%.

If you don’t show you want the shirt, in two weeks’ time you won’t get the shirt.

Is Ramsey very aware of his body and what it needs?






Every country has different training sessions and types of training. When I came here, I learned also that it’s a bit different, so I had to change. I was in a different mentality to train, from Germany and Turkey.

Here it’s a little bit different. I try to keep the balance between this and we try to protect our players. Every player needs rest, so we have to give them rest to have them at 100% in the game.

How is training different here to Turkey/Germany/Greece…




Here it’s like when you load and rest players. It’s a different schedule than Turkey during the week. Here, every three days you have games, so the players are prepared to train, rest, play, rest.

In Europe it’s different, so maybe that’s why Aaron Ramsey had problems in Italy. Here it is different, they take care of the body to control everything.

My teams in Turkey were pushing much more differently than here. Different types of training sessions. So we have had to adapt as well. We have to listen to the players.

Rambo back for Sunderland

Erol Bulut has confirmed that Aaron Ramsey will be back in contention for the Bluebirds' trip to Sunderland this Sunday.

Cardiff are two from two and would love to extend that record to three in three. What was impressive about the win against Coventry last night was that they scored three goals without three crucial attacking players in Ramsey, Josh Bowler and Callum O'Dowda.

While Bowler and O'Dowda could still miss the trip to the Stadium of Light, Bulut confirmed Ramsey would be there to pull the strings again after being rested against the Sky Blues.

“Aaron was rested because he had had a problem with his adductor muscle when he was away with the national team and he felt it again against Swansea,” said Bulut.

“I couldn’t risk him getting any more injuries, but he’ll be back for Sunderland on Sunday."

Karlan Grant, can he play as a striker?






No. For me, Karlan Grant is a great winger. My opinion is, OK, because of all his skills, his pace, his counter-attacking, we can send him behind the defence.

But here the defenders are hard and close, getting balls in the air to him will be difficult. I think it’s better for him to come from the side and score goals like he did against Coventry.

Ryan Wintle playing more advanced…





We had a different system against Coventry, a 4-3-3. I wanted my No.8s, Rallsy and Wints to be more offensive and it was a great assist for him.

I said to him that what he showed me until now, he could give much more. He has that quality. Before he was playing safe passes from A to B, B to A. I wanted more passes in behind the defence, between the lines. He has to take more risks. If he makes a mistake, he makes a mistake, football is like this.

If you try, try, try, it will happen. So I am pushing him for this and other players for other things. We cannot always play safe football. We want to attack and sometimes you have to play with risk.

So now he is trying to do it and he is doing it well.

I think our guys in the academy and under-21s made a good job to sign this player. We are close with the under-21s coaches, so if he is on that level we will keep an eye on him

How big was the win on Tuesday after the derby?



I think it was a big step for us. I said before the derby, it is a derby so you prepare yourself much more different. As players and as coaches.

After that big win against Swansea, I said to the players it will not make any sense if we don’t take points on Tuesday. You will have fought for nothing.

We win, but if you lose the next game, we are in the same position we were in before. It was not only three points, it was everything, for the future and for the next games.

To believe in yourself and what we did from the start of the season until now, the steps they made. Where we are right now, for them to believe in themselves but also their team-mates.

I said that if they believe in what we are doing, you will see where we can go with this team. They ask me if I was a prophet or something like that! (laughing).

In Turkey, those teams I can compare them a little bit with Cardiff. But also over there I said they have to believe in what we are doing. In the end, I got qualification for the Europa League and I got in a cup final.

Don’t take from this that we will get into the Europa League or get promoted! I wish it. But if we believe in something, we can do a lot of things.

In the end, if this happens, I don’t know. But at least we know what we are fighting for.

Cardiff City Sign:


Cardiff City have signed centre-back Malachi Fagan-Walcott. The 21-year-old joins as an under-21s player initially until the end of the season.

Malachi Fagan-Walcott was released by Spurs U21’s after making No appearances for the first team, but went on loan to Dundee last season making 2 appearances for the Scottish club.


After well over 2 years of some awful results and not great football under manager Daren Purse , Purse believes he will add much more experience.





Under-21s boss Darren Purse said:

“He’s going to bring experience. He’ll be one of the older players in our group and he’s a specimen of a young man. He’s very good in possession of the ball and can read the game well. He’ll be a good addition to and will push our other centre-backs.

“We want him pushing to be involved in the first team. It’s a great signing for us and we’re looking forward to working with him. Like I say to all of the under-21s boys: ‘We’ll give you the opportunity, but you’ve got to go and take it’, and we’ll be hoping that Malachi does just that.”

Everyone knows what an ACL injury is, I had it too in my football career. This is one of the biggest, bad injuries for a player. But to have an ACL, come back and play with the same performance is not easy. You need time for this.

He had an ACL, came back and I talked with him in pre-season and I told him that if he is afraid, he will get injured again.

But you aren’t afraid and go into duels, nothing will happen. He has chosen the best way. I was like this when I had it. I came back after five months and played 90 minutes! He took eight months… I was a different type of player, I was always pushing myself.

This was a different case. It was 2008, 15 years ago. It’s not easy for him. Mentally you have to be strong and he is strong. He is giving everything on the field and he is playing good for us on the field.
