A forum for all things Cardiff City

It’s all over Twitter / Fb:
WELSH FOOTBALL FANS:
Only 7000 tickets have been sold for Thursday's friendly against South Korea
A drop in numbers compared to our last friendly (12,900 vs Czech Republic 2022) and looking to be a similar attendance for the Belarus friendly in 2019.

Perhaps those at the top will now take note
rob page is the problem
and any feel good factor has gone
nothing to do with bale most new he was on his way out
but pages tactics and winless in 12
His jobs for the boys bringing in old school gunter etc
Just yes men around him
and the dwindling crowds should be taken heed of
Things went t.ts up for me when he said we did well in the 1st half of world cup against england we DEFENDED for 45 mins had 1 shot on goal and he page was asking bale and rambo there thoughts when he was the msnager
Red wall will be like harlech castle a crumbling ruin if he does' nt retire and hand over to a modern day manager.

Sorry, Monty, the 'fair-weather' supporters are the problem; Rob Page is just reaping the downside of seeing a golden generation coming to an end...

What doesn't help when people are struggling with cosy of living, prioritising expenditure, you have the FAW charging £25 a ticket plus fees for a friendly.
Drop it to £10 or £15 for adults and £5 for children and you'll at least double those figures.
I would say there are a lot of fairweather Wales supporters who are happy to turn up when the team are winning (a bit like City!).

There is merit in this; but from my perspective, I stopped when the late FAW Chairman Alun Evans almost ruined Weksh foitball, inc. it's EFL clubs some years ago
I'm sure it's 'better' run nowadays but I lost interest and bar the odd look on TV, I am really mot bothered until one of our own club's players are injured...

I have to say I lost interest in Wales a while ago.
Obviously want them to do well and watch the games on TV, but haven't had interest in going to watch a game for a while.
It's not just Wales but international football in general, find it very slow and stale. Much better in the Euros and World Cups but still not like club football.
Would happily see us have five years in the Premier League and Wales to never qualify again.
Mon Sep 04, 2023 7:43 pm
FAW replace Page please
Mon Sep 04, 2023 7:50 pm
Should play it in scumsea towns pitiful little stadium
Mon Sep 04, 2023 10:13 pm
I wouldn't go if it was free let alone the price there asking but each to there own. International football just don't do it for me even when they was really reallt shit I never bothered and couldn't get in to it. A bunch of mostly english players who's great grans cat that was born in Wales can suddenly play for Wales. Although loads of my mates go home and away with them as that's there thing.

No it’s the FAW. They pretty much doubled the price of tickets between I think the Euro 2016 campaign and the World Cup 2018. Priced out a lot of actual football fans who also spend a fortune on season tickets at welsh clubs. They were replaced by bandwagoners and people wanting to treat it like a rugby day out.
Instead of trying to win back football fans they’ve started to lean into the play acting welsh independence lot who only go to show people how welsh they are. And that’s just off the pitch!
On the pitch it’s jobs for the boys with Page and his staff, and Page’s squads are just his favourites. What’s the point in calling Morrell and Moore up when they can’t play the competitive game? Especially considering that there’s players who should be in the squad on merit who’ve never had a look in because they’re not Page’d favourites

£25 for a meaningless friendly is a joke. Most football fans don't have endless amounts of cash and will prioritise the games they watch.
There'll be nearly 30000 at the stadium next week for the Jacks game.
If the tickets were £10 they might have attracted 15000.
Tue Sep 05, 2023 7:10 am
It’s a pointless game and sorry but Rob Page needs to go if we are to transition post Bale etc.
He should have gone after the World Cup ….we need someone new with fresh ideas.

Have to disagree with you defensive attidude of pages tactics and 12 games without a win is mostly the problem due to his style of play
if we have any style
fans will drop off
look at ourselves when was the last time cardiff had a full house i have followed wales since the early 70s but could not get tickets for the build up to wales world cup because as pointed out on forum
a lot of egg fans wanted to get on board or the family day out brigade
If we cardiff had an F.A.cup match at home before this swansea game you would have the same scenario nobody at the fa cup game
but packed out for swansea game
And the cost of 2 games close together and possibly a midweek game to travel from north wales for an evening game means having a day off work.

We have always been a 3rd rate international team, but we were lucky enough to have 2 World class players and a few decent Premier League players for 10 years and punched above our weight. Now we are reverting to our normal level.Poor.
Time was that international football was the highest level of the game but no longer - I couldn’t see the Argentinian squad from the last World Cup winning the Premier League, or any of the other major European league for that matter.
International friendlies are boring and no wonder people don’t want to pay their hard earned money to watch a pointless game.
If the World Cup and European Championship weren’t on free to air TV, how many would take out a Sky TV subscription to watch it? Very few.
I do quite enjoy international football, but the Bluebirds are my first love and always will be.

Page lost that game before a ball was kicked with that team selection, then lost my respect with that comment.

I agree about Alun Evans,,,, he almost, single handedly,, took Welsh professional International football back to the Stone Age.
Just a thought, but is Rob Page any better that Bobby Gould was as manager of Wales?
Thu Sep 07, 2023 7:33 am
Is the game pay on the gate?
Thu Sep 07, 2023 9:17 pm
Page definitely needs to go and the FAW are also showing how inept they are.
The feel good factor including passion and pride after 2016 was a wasted gem as the FAW had a chance to inspire young Welsh talent and push football over rugby bias enabling us to grow Welsh talent and then develop them for future campaigns.
Page is completely out of his depth and the fact he was handed a 4 year contract (despite being nowhere near international managerial level) speaks volumes of how the FAW haven’t moved on since they made players take a later flight many moons ago.
No balance in our team tonight and no positivity going against Latvia.

Ridiculous comment, FIFA rules state that to play for your country you or your parents or grandparents have to be born in the country. It’s sad that many Cardiff City supporters don’t support their country yet support their club, the Capital of Wales that is basically a team made up of English/foreign journeymen with the odd Welshman (2 at present in squad)
The present Welsh Team is made up of Premiership/Championship players plus 2 from Division 1 and it would certainly win the Championship and survive in the Premier League unlike unfortunately our club that hopefully won’t struggle in the relegation zone like the previous 2 seasons!

The comments on this losing streak never references the standard of opposition. Since the start of last years nations league we've played 15 fixtures, 12 against teams ranked 30 or above in the FIFA rankings 11 of them have been competitive fixtures.
To put that in context in Chris Colemans 6 years in charge we only played 15 competitive fixtures against teams ranked 30 or above at the time. We won 4 of them, Belgium qualifying for and at France, together with the games against the Slovakia and Russia games in France. All pretty much within that 15 month period. Winning against that level of opposition has always been rare for us. We should of course held onto a few more draws along the way, even a win Poland.
Any manager we have in the next few years will be facing the same problem, an enormous dearth of talent coming through. Our best days for this generation of us older fans have gone, 2016 was great, 2018 world cup qualifiers turned into an unmitigated disaster. Top seed, coming straight off the back 2016 and our best most influential players in their mid 20's. It should have been so much better.

Certainly when you have one of the best players in the world your team is a lot better.
We were so lucky to have Bale.
