THE DEFENDING WAS AWFUL

For Barnsley's equaliser, the defence had at least 3 chances to clear their lines but failed and we got punished.

The defence is a problem and they even had Darcy and Oli in front of them for this game which must have helped.

Carl would you have kept Darcy at CB and maybe moved someone like McPhail into the middle?

I would have kept Darcy at the back yes Luke.

Hopefully Riggott will make a centre half position is own and will add the quality we need there

Absolute shocking just watched it, Sold Loovens and Johnson

When we have Loovens, Johnson and Purse we had the 3 best CB's in the league. Purse isnt up to this standard anymore but the Glenn and Roger both are, its a shame.

haha I had to read that update 3 times thats how I remembered, read it twice Thursday on a night out and then couldnt remember any of it Friday morning it must have stuck in my mind tho

This is a concern. We are suddenly weak at centre half. Whatever happened with Gerrard(hic!) he and Gyepes/Blake were outstanding when it mattered in feb/march last season. Any chance of Johnson on loan Carl

Gerrard and Gyepes were awful, check bacxk at the results/performances - Barnsley home, Newcastle away...

We've conceded 8 in 10 so far, 2nd best in the league and will go up if we keep this record up.

As for Johnson, about time this was put to bed, he's gone and thats the end to it. He scored a feckin own goal today anyway !!

By the way, who was it who won the headers for our 2nd goal and also the penalty ??

Hudson, who I have praised many times so far this season, has a great start so far, BUT yesterday, and unsurprisingly with his inconsistency has to take the blame for the Barnsley goal, the ball was there at his feet - all he had to do was put his effin body behind it and it would have cleared the half way line! instead he pokes his lazy toe at it - and it goes nowhere! He needs to improve his consistency if he wants to win the fans around..... yesterdays defending was shocking.

I dont think you can say the defending was poor overall yesterday, once again they didnt create many chances.

However you have a point over their goal, there were chances to clear it and Hudson had the best opportunity to clear. I've just watched it over and over and the ball hits his knee, drops and he has a hack and misses, tries again and has it blocked when it fell to their man to score. I think you are a bit harsh, but he should have done better.

In fairness to him he atoned for it, winning the penalty and also creating the chance for Oli's goal with his header from the corner.

Overall it seemed he and Gyepes coped with Barnsle's big men very well.

Yes. But sometimes easier said than done. Just watched it 5-6 times over, bit by bit. Its not good viewing !

Ball come sin and a few players jump together. Gyepes doesn't attack the ball.
Naylor hald back by Barnsley players.
McNaughton charges in and succeeds in knocking it backwards onto Hudsons' thigh.
Hudson swipes at it, misses and then his 2nd effort is blocked.
Ball runs free and Gyepes is still standing off the ball carier.

6 players all carrying part of the blame there (Naylor can be let off, nothing more he could have done -ALL the others could have done better).

lads was out all day yesterday with no phone or anything.
only thing i can gather is we defended poorly for the goal, and our fans were great.

This sort of thing happens though. As long as its not regular (and so far it hasn't been) then its not the end of the world.

We still need to improve, bu defensively we've been decent so far - only conceded 8 in 10 and 2nd best defense after QPR is not bad considering our squad is full of attacking players.
