‘ Ollie Tanner / Kieran Evans ‘

Tue Aug 08, 2023 12:46 pm

Ollie Tanner and Kieran Evans were both fit last Sunday, but we’re both not included in the Match Day Squad.

They are both expected to play tomorrow night against League 2 Colchester United where Bulut will be watching both players.

Apparently Erol Bulut is looking to send them both out on loan.

Please to a very much higher standard than last season.

Despite Glen Williams ( Media Wales ) building Tanner up to be a world beater and now Kieran Evans, I thinks it’s unfair to both lads as it does not help the pressure he’s putting on them both.

Sadly it’s looking like once again virtually NO one from our U21’s last season or the previous seasons other than maybe Rubin Collwil orJoel Bagan at best make a regular first team player for us.

KIERAN EVANS:

Kieran Evans is 22 years old this year and has only made 5 appearances for the Bluebirds in the last 3 years.
Evans had a successful season at a relegated Non League club Torquay, who are even now further down the Pyramid.

Evans should be going to League 1 or even be good enough by now to be a regular in our Championship Squad.

OLLIE TANNER:

Ollie Tanner is 21 years old and came from FC Lewis a year ago and has yet to start for the Bluebirds in a Championship game.

Tanner was last season sent out on loan to Non League strugglers Your City where he only started 2 games, plus 4 as a substitute.

Tanner shone in the Bluebirds pre-seasons games against two Welsh League teams.

Currently Tanner has not been featuring in Buluts first team.

I would like to see Tanner sent out to a League 1 club.

I expect both of them to go out on loan.

They've had a decent pre-season, especially Evans. Clearly not ready for the Championship yet though.

Playing against League Two opposition tomorrow will give Bulut a clear idea on what division he thinks he should be loaning them out to.

Tanner obviously didn't impress at York because they barely played him, so he needs to prove a point.

They both need to play games this season.

Apart from Rubin Colwill, I think all the players who weren't in the squad on Sunday will be moved on either permanently or on loan by the end of the month.

I agree Ned.

Personally I don’t see Tanner or Bagan as Championship quality.

Evans the jury out.

They should all be class v League 2 Colchester tomorrow night.

Rubin he has to finally do it this season.

Probably end up at some welsh team sadly if they can't be good enough for league 1 and 2 then they ain't ever going to make it in the championship in my opinion as there clearly not youngsters now despite all the dribble the media spin about that. :bluebird:

Ian,

I get fed up of Glen Williams calling them kids and making them all out as stars, for me by 19-20 years old if your real Championship quality you will have made it.
Everyone says send them out, they will come back good enough .
Not one player has yet from the Welsh League and then been a regular first team Cardiff City player.

Agreed they then let go sadly it shows how crap the under 21s and younger set up is in my opinion as we have produced nothing reallt for years on end who have become a 1st team regular.

Once they're 21 the calling them kids needs to stop & we as a club should have a very good idea of their level. Obviously mistakes will be made but nobody gets everything right even though some people think they do.

Erol Bulut will play a mix of young and experienced players in tomorrow night's game against Colchester United.

Speaking about Colchester, he said:

“For us, some players didn’t play [on Sunday] and were on the bench, so we will use them, but have a mix in our eleven. Of course, we want to win and continue in the Cup.”

“This is their chance again to show me if they can make the first team.”

“Some youngsters, they will be in the squad and some in the first XI. How they played in pre-season matches, I was satisfied with some of them, so we will see them on Wednesday.”

"For our young guys, it’s a chance to show themselves in the game.“

I agree for once monty boy!

Unless Sawyers starts performing as he can as he’s obviously got the talent then we should be looking to ‘try’ to get him out. Harder than you think though.

I’d definitely keep Evans.
