Ugbo:

“It was a bit unfortunate that we didn’t get all three points, but this is a difficult place to come for the first game of the season,” Iké began.

“I think everyone will take that, and I think the team did really well today. Leeds are a top side and we knew that they would come at us in the second half, but we had to stay strong and we did that well today.”

Iké continued: “Josh did really well to get the first goal. It got our spirits really high and our mood in the right place. Getting the second goal gave us a lot of confidence. It was tough in the second-half to hold on, but we’ll take a point.

“I think we’re trying to achieve big things this season. We showed that today against a top side and I think we can push on from this game next week.”

Having signed for the Bluebirds on loan from Troyes this summer, Ugbo netted his first goal for the Club 39 minutes into his debut.

“As a striker, you’re always trying to get that first goal as soon as possible,” Iké added. “It’s always the hardest goal to get, your first goal. Now, it’s about performing and doing my best for the team.

“I think the goal looks easier than it was. I was trying to be in the right place at the right time and I think I did that well today.”

Ive not been critical, but disappointed with Ugbo's contribution to date, but, fair do's, whilst he didnt have a stormer against Leeds, he got a goal and he made one. Strikers are marked, in the main, on goals, and having started with a debut league goal, hopefully it'll give him confidence to get a good few this year.

I agree Barclay.
I thought he held the ball up pretty well too cos certainly challenged for a number of headers, much of the time when leading the line alone.

As an attacking forward he did really well. I think etete is better when we are defending a lead as showed with his willingness to chase around and close players down. But thought ugbo did well. Took his goal well and showed some good movement when we threatened

Ugbo and Meitie are here to score goals but when you have a 2 goal lead you need Ojo and Etete who will run their socks off closing people down...Etete cannot do this all on his own. This was a good performance and it is easy to sit here thinking any player could do better. However if we did not give opinions there would be no forum. A good performance and 3 points against QPR and that sets us up well for the season.

Don't rate him one bit yet tbh just there to tap home his goal all I seen of him yesterday bar that he ain't done anything in my eyes to warrant being good as of yet but time will tell

Disagree. It's a good sign when a striker is in the right place at the right time, shows he has a good instinct.

Good composure for Bowler's goal as well.

Decent debut from him.

I see he was the only one of our players to make it into the EFL team of the week.

Watters couldn’t even run to the right end of the pitch half the time. I’ll take someone knowing where the opposition goal is for now :-D
