Swansea did really well in the Eurpoa League competition in season 2013/2014 after winning the League Cup at Wembley in 2013, while the Bluebirds have reached the last four and eight of the old European Cup Winner's Cup on three seperate occasions - albeit in the Sixties and Seventies.

This is Penybont’s chance.

The problem as well is most Welsh League clubs are not even able to play their home games even at their own grounds.

We cannot bemoan the Welsh League situation and sit outside of it.

If we want to enhance it and get further in Europe, we have to join, but I bet most wouldn't want that.

When Swansea were in the Europa League, their participation did not help the Welsh League coefficient at all. They were an English Team.

The only way we could “join” without sacrificing what we have is possibly a partnership with one of the teams and use it for our junior players imho.

Wales can’t support a fully professional domestic sport league. You only have to look at rugby to see that sadly.

The quality. The progression. The money. It’s in an English or a British league.

The women will have this problem now unless we can get them in the English system.

Your actually spot on Wales can not support a professional football, rugby or woman’s league.

City are already covering the wages for the woman’s team, which I don’t agree.

The worse thing that ever happened for Welsh Clubs was the formation of Welsh League with many of the English League club forced into it.

However, it had to happen or we would lose our International Team. Would be like the Enland Cricket Team.

The standard is so poor in the Welsh league. TNS are the only ones who can occasionally compete in Europe and even they look to be going out.

If us and Swansea (Wrexham as well in the future I expect) were allowed to qualify through the Welsh Cup then there would be a better chance of qualifying for the group stage of Europa League/Conference League.

Like you said, The Jacks did well in Europe when they won the EFL Cup. Don't forget we were also a penalty shootout away from qualifying in 2012 when we lost to Liverpool in the EFL Cup Final.

So I went last night and tbf the atmosphere and occasion was great , coz of uefa rules they could only sell the 1400 seats as standing is not allowed , I have no doubt that they would of had a massive crowd if they went on general sale, a lot of people missed out , have a look at this photo and all the people watching from new castle on the hillside .
