Oxford United are pleased to announce the signing of forward Mark Harris, who joins the club on a long-term deal after leaving Cardiff City this summer.

Updated

Recently-released striker Mark Harris is a target for League One sides Oxford United,Blackpool and League 2 clubs Forest Green and MK Dons, according to reports.

Harris was offered a one-year contract by Cardiff at a very low wage, but with game time not guaranteed following the arrival of new manager Erol Bulut, the Wales international decided to seek a new challenge.

Quite where he ends up will be intriguing to see, with Championship clubs and League One sides having been linked with him in the past.

Now, though, Oxford and Blackpool are the latest to be linked, again by the Sun's Nixon. Ciaron Brown and Josh Murphy have moved to the Kassam Stadium in recent seasons and Harris could join his old Bluebirds team-mates if he opts for a move to Oxfordshire.

Striker Mark Harris aged 24 , played for the Bluebirds 95 times / Scoring 9 goals in a period of 6 years.

I dare say a move to league two is about his level. But for the effort he used to put in I hope he gets a league one club and has a decent couple of seasons.

Spoke to Wrexham and Newport fans both did not want him back after his loan spells there.

He has improved a lot since and his work rate is very good.

Striker rate worse than awful.

If I was him I would chose League 2 more his level.

So were Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers ever interested in him. Funny how it's only teams in divisions 1 and 2 are only mentioned now.

you know, i think the thing he lacks is the killer instinct, that ability to finish. Earnie had it, Chops had it. now i see comments saying "league two is his level" the truth is, he might go to a league one side and end up with 20 goals a season, it happened with us and Bothroyd, struggled, people said not his level, and then boom, kicked on.

he worked his socks off for us, and i wish him nothing but the best, but i think it was best all round we shook hands and walked away, same with Watters

IMO he is much better than Watters who is League 1/2, so i think he is an L1 forward.

He has been well coached and applies himself well, but just lacks composure, with time that may come. He is another who should have dropped leagues to play regularly seasons ago.

L2 will be a great place to know you are going to play and build your confidence and reputation. Before we know it he'll get more chances and start converting them and be a 20 goals a season man, then all the "told ya so" will start.

Good luck Mark

Of course they were not, it was Glen Williams bullshit.

Only lower league clubs and they have big doubts.

I do wish the lad all the best.

Always gave 100%. What he lacked in killer instinct he certainly tried to overcome it with effort. Really hope he kicks on at Oxford and develops in to a good professional forward. Not sure he’s a striker but certainly a wide forward.
