Lennon Peake departing 30/06/23

Mon Jun 12, 2023 4:13 pm

Just had “Tweet” from Cardiff City about retained list. What’s happened there? I thought we had high hopes for this lad?

His decision, apparently...

He was the one asked by Darren Purse to go out on loan to a Welsh League club and refused...

He was brought in so he could be looked at whilst he regain fitness after horrific injuries at West Ham (who didn't want him to go in the first place)

Massively disappointing, as several clubs are now speaking to him, including Premier League 'new boys' Luton Town (via Big Mick Harford)

Of course, I could just be making it up, as biglad6 thinks that anyone with any knowledge he doesn't have (which is most of on here) is doing so... :ayatollah:

As you know Chris, been common knowledge for a while that he wasn't staying. Don't know why the club have waited this long before announcing it.

Purse asking him to go on loan to Pontypridd was ridiculous and I don't blame him one bit for leaving.

Shame because I saw a few videos of him playing for the U23s and he looked a decent player, one of the best in our U23s easily.

This isn't like when we lose 16-year-olds to bigger clubs, because we can't do about those. Peake has left because of Purse trying to send him on loan to Pontypridd (which is way below his level).

I expect him to go on to good things in his career and wish him luck.

Yes, Ned; you are 100% right there and it's massively disappointing that it has been allowed to happen. I saw the clips too, and he looked well above those around him...

I wish him good luck and hope he shows us what (the Royal) we have lost... :ayatollah:

Or he could've sucked it up and gone?! He's still a paid employee. What would he lose by going? Still live and train at City, still paid same amount...

How about the attitude... "f**k it. I'll show them. I'm too good for this" and go and tear it up. Apparently like Tom Davies did. Be the best player in the pitch.

If better clubs wanted him on loan he'd have gone there. Not exactly our fault, or Purse's, only Ponty wanted him?!

Agree with you he really should do what he's told tbh. But as a fan, seeing our players go to the Welsh league is ridiculous

Yeah. We'd all love them to go to higher league clubs. However, they've got to be wanted.

Also, there's some silly international loan rule that hampers us. Limited number. So bu sending to Welsh league we're not using up a spot needed by the first team.

f**k that

Pontypridd United

Sometimes it’s not about the money it’s about wanting to play at the highest level

ALL THE CITY PLAYERS JOINING THESE WELSH LEAGUE CLUBS ALL GET RELEASED

I get that.

However, it appears the ones that don't get released too.

If that's the highest level the lad was offered this season he should have gone. Prove himself. Plenty of men there happy to have a pop at him. Would've learnt more there than in our u23s.

Good luck to the lad. But if he doesn't want to play for our club. Laters.

For me, this shows that Purse is not the right person to take the youth forward.

Absolute ridiculous decision. Why the hell would ge want to go to Pontypridd and play, park football.

Again, another appointment who is not fit for purpose.

Correct, don't tell biglad6 but there were other factors involved and they all included our club management not living up to certain obligations agreed when he originally signed...

And let's not forget, Lennon was desperate to sign for us and rejected others whilst we dillued and dallied before he finally came here

Normally I would back the club, if a youngster is a paid employee he should do what the club ask him to do

However, someone like Peake would gain absolutely nothing by playing at such a lowly club like Pontypridd

Purse needs to have a long hard look at how he is dealing with these young players because he not impressed me one bit

Wasn’t he signed in February, so there wouldn’t have been any chance to get a loan to an EFL club?

About time we got out of this FAW, bloody international clearance, quota of players to loan to league of Wales clubs its all f*cking nonsense, we even play in English football league.
Purse needs to go NOW.

My son played against Ponty in Welsh league Dont get me wrong their player would look amazing at park level But to send any of our own players down to that level for me is shocking especially for an outfield player. The standard of the league lower teams is around 6/7 th tier of English football at its best

Thanks and that’s my point,

Not just for Peake, but for any of our Championship players.

I am in the minority and believe as soon as kids graduate from U18 football, they need to have six months in the Welsh league to toughen them up and get them used to mens football from aged garde. Of course, they should piss it if they don't perhaps mens professional football shouldn't be their chosen career, and enroll in college.

Lennon Peake is 21 next month I believe and the consensus here is you need to be knocking on the door for the first team squad by now or perhaps this is not your level.

I think hes a London lad, so there will be dozens of clubs national league south and above willing to sign him if he is as promising as some think.

Ponty is a bit of an insult if you came here to break into a championship side.Interesting to see where he ends up

Is Purse really the man for the job. Surely our players deserve better.

Laughable to send a player to Pontypridd.

League 2 and above should be the standard for loan destinations and only under certain circumstances should a player then be sent to the National League.

Depends on how much control the board want to give, hopefully Bulut has a say in the development of players (some managers do).

Different club that is, the welsh premier team is Pontyprydd United, surprised that the big 4 welsh clubs don’t have a b team in the welsh leagues though

If he was going on loan - should have gone to Newport or Wrexham = If he was " The Next Big Thing " - as posted on here .

At least he would have got some Game Time .....

It's all about opinions, Peake and Tanner have been talked up, but it's obvious the club Managers, all of them don't rate them, there are plenty of players in the leagues, I doubt we will see either pulling up trees any time soon, if ever.
