Former Cardiff City midfielder Josh Low has spoken about the Bluebirds' struggles in recent years after his Cardiff-born son was selected for the Wales squad.

Low Jr — Joe — plays for Bristol City, but Josh, who played for Cardiff for three years either side of the millennium, admitted he still follows the Bluebirds from afar.

"It's sad to see their struggles this season. I do follow it from a distance, although I do watch Bristol City quite a lot these days, with my son being there," Low told the BBC.

"I've been down to watch Cardiff a few times and I played with Steve Morison, one of the recent managers, so I know him fairly well.

"Hopefully, now that they've avoided relegation this season, they can get a new manager in, give him some time to build a squad and improvements for next season. Then, hopefully, they can start kicking on up the table and back to where we all hope they should be, in and around the Premier League."
