Wigan will start next season on MINUS FOUR points as the crisis-struck club are punished by the EFL for failing to pay players on time for the fifth occasion this season

They're in huge financial trouble. Players will have to leave and can see them struggling in League One next season.

Don't think they'll go down but unlikely to compete for top six.

League One is a very tough league.

I live up here in Wigan and, thankfully for some of my neighbours, I don't think they are in the sort of financial trouble that the papers are portraying. I don't think they are going under put it that way.

The issue appears to be their owners and rules regarding the transfer of money from dubai due to money laundering rules

The issue appears to be that, when transferring a large amount of money, it can take between 1-2 months to be approved. This is what has caused the delay.

This is why the league have asked for 125% of the monthly salary with them. So that if they do mess up again. The EFL can ensure Payment.

The owners should have been more aware of this though I agree.
