Sabri Lamouchi: "Its to much"

Mon Apr 24, 2023 8:55 am

MY VIEW BUT:

Its been the same for all Championship teams so far, all had to play six games in three weeks and Rotherham are also having to play the same amount of games as Cardiff City.

"We have a big squad, full of quality, the players just have to believe in themselves."

SABRI LAMOUCHI:

"We are all tired. Six games in three weeks, it's too much," the City boss said. "Both teams, we saw not a lot of energy, it's terrible for them."

Lamouchi admitted that he told his players he expected them to be better in the second half as they took time to find their intensity again.

Cardiff face Rotherham on Thursday after the original fixture was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch with 48 minutes played.

City top scorer Kaba seemed to be another player out of gas in the final minutes against Stoke and there are persistent doubts about the ability of senior players, like Ralls and Connor Wickham, to complete a full 90 minutes.

The decision not to start Philogene was "absolutely not" tactical, Lamouchi said, but the manager felt it was too risky to play the 21-year-old for the full duration.

Youngsters like Isaak Davies, an unused substitute, and Rubin Colwill, yet again absent from the matchday squad, look set to only play a bit-part role in the final three games, if at all. Lamouchi confirmed the squad will have a day off training to help their recovery after 90 minutes against Stoke.

What Sabri Lamouchi has said

"We have three games to play and we will play to get maximum points until the end. We have an interesting game, a direct confrontation, behind. But we have one more game, a game against Rotherham on Thursday night.

"It'll be tough because we play eight o'clock on Thursday there and then 12 o'clock Sunday here. Huddersfield are waiting 10 days without a game.

"I prefer to be where I am, of course. We have three games to play and we need to think game by game and to try to get points. The points are so important, especially now."

"We have a squad full of quality, they just need to believe in themselves."

THE RESULTS THAT MATTER:

Cardiff City 1-1 Stoke City

Birmingham City 0-1 Blackpool

Burnley 1-2 QPR

Coventry City 2-1 Reading

Wigan Athletic 2-1 Millwall

Bristol City 2-1 Rotherham United

Despite Wigan picking up a good win against Millwall, it's almost impossible for them to overtake Cardiff now, because they are six points behind them with only two games remaining and have a vastly inferior goal difference.

Blackpool are keeping themselves in with a shout, that's two wins out of three matches since Mick McCarthy's sacking. A 1-0 win over Birmingham City keeps tentative hopes alive for the division's 23rd-placed side. They, too, have only two matches remaining and are three points adrift of Huddersfield, the team occupying that final safe spot at the moment. Although the Terriers - like Cardiff and Rotherham - have a game in hand over the three sides in the relegation zone.

Reading struggled without their talisman Andy Carroll, who was serving a ban for a red card he picked up in their last game, and the Royals slumped to defeat at Coventry. It's not looking good for the Berkshire club, all things considered, with the team now having gone 11 games without a win as things begin to look ominous for them.

Cardiff gained a point on Rotherham and as a result moved level with them on 46 points. The Millers were hit with a sucker punch in the 91st minute as Andreas Weimann scored an injury-time winner for Bristol City. Rotherham are winless in five matches now and are still being hauled back into this relegation picture.

QPR, like Cardiff, took four points from their two games last week and took a major step forward towards safety. Chris Martin's 87th-minute strike sealed victory for the west London club over champions-elect Burnley in yet another surprising result against the top-placed club. It puts the R's four points above the drop zone now with two to play.

The Table:

18th - QPR - P 44 PTS 47

19th - Rotherham - P 43 PTS 46

20th - Cardiff - P43 PTS 46

21st - Huddersfield - P43 PTS 44

---

22nd - Reading - P44 PTS 43

23rd - Blackpool - P44 PTS 41

24th - Wigan - P44 PTS 40

Next rounds of fixtures
Thursday

Rotherham v Cardiff

Friday

Blackpool v Millwall

Saturday

Reading v Wigan

Stoke City v QPR

Sunday

Cardiff v Huddersfield

Monday

Rotherham v Middlesbrough

This issue here is how biased the relief between games is for different teams at the bottom.

We will play a high intensity game on Thursday with both team needing the points and if we don't get the result we will have to play ANOTHER high intensity game three days later against a team who won't have played for nearly two weeks.

The Huddersfield vs Sheff U should be played the same day as Rotherham vs Cardiff.

This is why, while they were deciding when our game was played it was obvious it should have been the same day as Huddersfield and Sheff U.

As it is Hudderfield will also have the opportunity to see if they are safe before they play Sheff U.

Great to hear that Rotherham are struggling. Let’s do them over and stay up. We can’t have it coming down to the last two games as I don’t see us getting anything out of them

But Wayne,

This was not done by the EFL, it was Sky and it’s Sky where clubs like us get all the big money , we will get £150,000 as the home team v Huddersfield Town.

Huddersfield fans are departing 5am their coaches to come to us. It all evens out.

On and of the pitch.

Why is it the top teams play a lot of games and don’t say they are tired. Man City played Bayern Munich in the week and then the Fa semi final, most of the players played both games. I noticed when we were in the premiership, not only are the top players better technically but their fitness was much better. Next season we need to sort this out.

Shut it you cheating pricx, you kept the pitch flooded when losing hoping to gain an advantage, I hope it comes back and bites you in the bum, losing the replay and getting another 11 players injured, losing the other games and getting relegated.

He's right it's so harsh, they cheat the reply, and we lose out by two games in 3 days, Huddersfield will 100% benefit with 10 days off. Warnock will have them resting most of the week with preparation looking at which of our players will be knackered based on time on the pitch and studying our game. They'll come out hard and aggressive and probably take a few of our players out in the first half then batter us for the rest of the game.

I think we have to win at Rotherham as now I think we will lose the last two.

Both managers can/will say what they need to ahead of a game neither can afford to lose. Just look at Neil Warnock!

However, if the Bluebird players can't get 'up' for this game in their perilous position and after recent events, they should go look for jobs in the real world where their pay and privileges will be rather restricted in comparison...

Come down to that hey Sven?

According to the squad we have a big enough squad and quality. So why are we in this position? Simple for me to answer this one and that is there is not enough quality in the squad and if there is where is it? This squad is made up of cast offs as some of us mentioned at the start. This season has proved that we were right.

Do we have enough to stay up? Next 3 games are going to tell us. If we manage to stay up something needs to be done over the summer period. We can only wait and see what happens.
