Going to the match on Saturday as a neutral

Tue Mar 28, 2023 4:27 pm

Sunderland fan here, but also a groundhopper who likes to tick off/experience other derbies.

Going to the match on Saturday and wondering where is good for a pre match drink that'll have a bit of atmosphere? Only been to CCS once, December 2013 when we played you's late kick off drew 2-2 after being 2-0 down. Drank in the city centre that day as an away fan so not sure what the pubs are like nearer the ground.

Cheers, and obviously being at Cardiff I hope you's win.

A neutral who wants Cardiff to win. Can’t fault you mate. :bluescarf:
Pubs around Canton area are pretty good and a short stroll to the ground.
Where in the ground are you mate?

The canton cross 20 metres from ivor davies
its lively but like trying to have a pint in a cupboard with a load of others.

Yes, but crowded but depends what floats ‘Wearside’s’ boat I suppose. Plenty of places within about a 200m radius to get some food too.

Grandstand but down towards the family end. What can I expect from the atmosphere? Shame it's a bubble trip for away fans, can imagine it takes away the edge a bit somewhat outside the ground.

If we turn up as a team the atmosphere will be excellent mate. If we stand off them as we’ve done a few times in the past, the home fans can go a bit quiet. Hope you hsnr a good day mate. :bluescarf:

Wearside, you're probably in the worst area to hear the singing. Somebody at our club or the authorities insist that the die hard Cardiff fans must be situated at the opposite end(Canton Stand) from the away fans. Somebody on here blamed a City employee named Wayne Nash for mainting this absurd level of segregation. Not sure if that is true but it ruins the match day experience a touch imo
