Rubin Collwill, Apparently played superb last night for Wales U21’s

He had 2 assists in a comfortable 3-0 wing over Scotland.

I watched Rubin a lot during his time with Cardiff's U23's and he always looked a class above everyone else on the pitch. Step up to playing with the big boys and he seems to have a confidence issue. I hope Sabri can sort out whatever issues Colwill has, as I have no doubt he has the talent to be a top player for Cardiff and Wales.

He has always struck me as a confidence player If he does not have it he is not worth being on the pitch I think he really has something to give if we can get his mind in the right place

Thank you :bluebird:

This was on Twitter:

The 2 assists from Rubin and even the commentator had to give him some credit for changing the game

Let’s hope these injuries are behind him and he can push on, immensely talented and could definitely fit as a 10 or left of a midfield 3

Can’t help feeling that a loan spell to toughen him up and to get him games under his belt would have been beneficial rather than shoving him (imo too early) into the first team with too much expectation on his young shoulders. Clearly talented though.

' Rubin Colwill bags two assists '

Rubin Colwill grabbed two assists as Wales Under-21s beat Scotland 3-0 on Sunday.

Goals from Josh Farrell, Joe Low and Josh Thomas gave Matty Jones' side all three points in convincing fashion, with Colwill laying on a brace of assists.

It was a positive reaction from the Cardiff youngster after he was dropped down to the age-grade ranks, something which will please Jones after his words last week predicting he would knuckle down in the face of adversity.

"It's refreshing how he's accepted it [going to the under-21s]," Jones said before the game. "There has been a lot of work in the background over the last couple of weeks in terms of communication with the club, conversations with Rubin, myself and Pagey, and how we're going to manage it.

"If Rubin had any type of ego, he would have pushed back on it because certain players don't want that. They all want to stretch themselves. But we see it as support to Rubin in terms of giving him an opportunity to play 90 minutes of football at an international level, which is a great level for him."

"I know it's difficult when compared to the experiences he had at the Euros and the World Cup," he added. "Let's face facts, he's been through a difficult time at Cardiff, and I think we've got to wrap an arm round him.

"Certainly I will be giving him tough love. I spoke to him over the last week about giving him accountability and what he needs to bring to us and what he feels he needs to deliver. What his objectives are coming in on camp.

"Hopefully, my pressure and expectation on him is that he has to be the best player on the pitch. Those are the questions that will be asked of him. Also I think the players around him are going to look at every reaction. Every behaviour. Every move he makes. The lads are going to see that."

Andrew,

The problem is we dont send the majority of our players to high level League 1 clubs, we send them to lower leagues and even non league clubs and that for me is backwards as they never make it then.

Totally agree Annis.
In Colwills case I’m sure that we could have offered him to a higher div 1 club who would have snapped our hands off. Far better for us than playing U23 games.
I hate to say this but in the case of some others that have gone to lower leagues, you have to ask if they’re anywhere near championship standard anyway…despite what Mr Dalman and others have maybe led us to believe.

I agree with you on Colwill Andrew :thumbright: :bluebird:

I never believed all the others were Championship quality, but Glen Williams in the Media made out they were all like future superstars and for me bullshitted beyond.
