Neil Warnock's troubled team gets takeover

Fellow relegation strugglers Huddersfield Town have been boosted by the news of a takeover.

The Terriers, managed by Cardiff favourite Neil Warnock and sitting one spot below Cardiff in the table, have announced that a North American have acquired the club.

The deal keeps the club out of administration and avoids what would likely have been a ruinous points deduction.

"We can confirm that Dean Hoyle has completed a deal to acquire the remaining 75% shareholding in Huddersfield Town from Pure Sports Consultancy. As a result, Dean Hoyle now owns 100% of the shares in the Football Club," Huddersfield wrote in a statement.

"Simultaneously, Mr Hoyle has exchanged contracts with a North American group on a sale of the 100% shareholding in Huddersfield Town. Completion is subject to legislative and governance procedures.

"We will give more information to supporters as soon as these procedures have been completed.

"Once again, we would like to thank fans for their continued patience and support."

And yet all those tan lovers reckon there's no one out there willing to take our club over

Go on, names names...

I don't recall anyone recently saying (quote you) "no one is out there", as it's been well highlighted that there are interested parties but, to date, the current owner has not seen any that he views as 'acceptable'

This 'Tan lover' garb is well outdated. It's just a simple case of whether people see any good in his tenure at the CCS or not and even then it's just opinions

Plenty have said ' nobody's out there and plenty are tan lovers .scroll back through yourself fella there's been loads posted on here on the subject.

I can’t remember anyone saying that. What people have said is that unless the offer is acceptable to the current owner it’s not worth talking about.

I could offer £20k, it’s an offer but not a realistic one !!

Somebody said one of the offers was £40-50m. That’s about as realistic as mine !!!!!

I’m sure Tan knows he’s going to make a loss but he’ll want to minimise that loss.

As supporters we want somebody who can not only match Tan’s valuation but also have enough capital to invest in the players and club in general. The infrastructure appears to be progressing but Lamouchi will want assurances on the playing side if he’s going to stay.

People will buy anything if they are convinced they actually want it.

So you can't, then...?

No need for me to scroll back. I know no one has said that for some considerable time... ;)

Well done Poirot. Glad you know it all.

Re: Breaking Huddersfield Town:

So I am willing to match Piledrivers 20k for 50% of the club if Piledriver is willing to drop his percentage to 50%.

So you are right Skiprat, there are people out there willing to buy the club.

Question to all, what do you think is an acceptable offer for the club if you take into consideration ownership of the ground, assets, current league and potential in relation to our catchment?

I will allow you to ignore debt as if Tan wiped it out, so that will reduce the price a bit.

100 million for a debt free club

So about £200 - £220 million with debt.

Perhaps people can see why there are not always buyers for all clubs.

Not sure the club is curre tly worth that much IF it was the asking price.

So no points deduction for them, as there will be no administration or so it would appear

Huddersfield Town: Championship strugglers taken over by North American group

Huddersfield have been taken over by a North American group after chairman Dean Hoyle acquired 100% of the club's shares and subsequently sold them.

Hoyle initially took over in 2009 before selling the club to Phil Hodgkinson, after 11 years at the club.

He returned in 2021 to provide funding due to Hodgkinson's financial difficulties but stepped down as chief executive for health reasons in 2022.

"We would like to thank fans for their patience and support," the club said.

In a statement, Huddersfield added that the unnamed group's takeover was subject to "legislative and governance procedures", and that more information would be provided after completion.

The takeover comes towards the conclusion of a campaign which has seen the club struggle in the Championship despite reaching last season's play-off final.

Neil Warnock's side are 22nd in the table and three points from safety, while they were also placed under a transfer embargo earlier in March for submitting their annual accounts late.

The Daily Mail has reported that Hoyle will write off £40m as part of the deal in order to keep the Terriers out of administration, which would have led to the club receiving a 12-point deduction and almost certainly consigned them to relegation.

The club have not played in English football's third tier since their promotion from League One through the play-offs in 2011-12.

I know lots, fella; unlike you, who (a) makes things up, and (b) doesn't have the moral compass to admit you made it up...

It's bad enough with some of the stuff going on at our club without posters like you making it worse..
