Not sure what the polygon is as can't see it related to summary below. But Burnley has 200k+ people in its polygon. Its crappy place in a region with multiple football clubs in a sparsely populated area eg Blackburn, Bury, Rochdale and Burnley just to name 4. But if a club is successful they will gather most of the polygon.

I love a stat but the Cardiff catchment area for Cardiff and South East Wales is actually 1.5M according to Future Wales - The National Plan 2040, so much higher than what's been quoted. And for the purpose of this exercise you also need to add in fans from Neath Port Talbot that sit outside the SE area. And before anyone says it, I am a stat wanker. But what is does show and its something that I'll keep on saying, if you look at some of the attendance figures above compared to their 'polygon', which I guess is the catchment area, and factor in some have other clubs near to them, we should really be at least doubling our present attendance figures. If I was working for or advising the club on driving attendance targets, this would be the target which I think is achievable and always have. You'd also think a potential buyer would see this, its fag packet maths but then again, the riches are in the PL, not solely ticket & merch revenues.

If you had an owner who actually wanted to invest time and money into encouraging more people in our catchment areas to attend I'm sure that we could be getting far bigger crowds than we do.
Rick Wright tried it for a while back in the day and we got some great attendances in the old Division 4.

The last time we were in the Premier League despite being near the bottom all season our average attendance was over 32000, the 11th highest in the League, larger than clubs like Brighton,Southampton,Crystal Palace etc. It shows the potential of the club if we were successful! As the Capital of Wales we should be in the Premier League and if established would get 40k and if we were a top 6 club we are one of the few clubs in Britain that could get 60000 gates but unfortunately at present that dream seems a long way off!

If I was advising Tan, I would suggest outlets for collecting tickets in places like Ebbw Vale, llantrisant, Pontypridd, Pontypool, Barry, Bridgend, Maesteg and Port talbot - linking them in to the shops that are also post offices.
Free merchandise giveways and a player going to them as a drop in to meet the fans type thing.

We have jack players visiting our fckin schools ffs.....
City really need to up the game with the schools - their club that has forgotten the fans and what that does.

They've made us punters and thus this lack of rapport has estranged many of us (who cant make every game and benefit from ST's (although I was one for a long time until circumstances forced the change)) from going....

Come on Cardiff- Sell the love to the 'Polygon People' :bluescarf: :bluebird: :D :occasion5:
