Carlos Corberan was full of praise for the mentality his West Brom side following their 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town at the weekend, but insists there's still plenty of room for improvement ahead of their trip to the Welsh capital.

The Baggies are doing well at home, but have lost their last 5 away games in a row.

A John Swift penalty was enough to seal all three points for Albion and move them to within three points of the play-off places ahead of their midweek clash with the Bluebirds, but the Baggies boss clearly believes there are areas to work on.

He said: “We needed to compete well and we did that, without performing as well as we can. We are going to keep working to play better in games and become more dominant.

“Expectation never really helps. What helps is staying focused on the job you have to do which is what the players have done over the last few days here at The Hawthorns. They had the right mentality to achieve the three points which were necessary today.”

Carlos Corberan:

"We want to follow up those two home wins with a victory at Cardiff.

“We want to achieve three wins in-a-row, which we know can be difficult in the Championship.

“However, at the same time, if you want to be in a good position in the table then you have to keep competing and fighting for the results you want to achieve. We know that our last two games have been very difficult and very competitive. We expect exactly the same in the next one.

“I never analyse a team based on their position in the league table. It’s more important to watch how a team heads into the game and with what players they have available. It’s true that under their new head coach Sabri Lamouchi they have improved a lot. They’ve picked up decent results and have won three of the last five games.

“They’ll have momentum behind them which means it’s going to be a difficult game."
