Pundits point finger at Cardiff youngster

Rohan Luthra 21 years old in a couple of months made his league debut for Cardiff City away at Preston.

Cardiff youngster Rohan Luthra has already found himself on the end of criticism after making his senior debut in the Lancashire defeat.

Luthra was called upon from the bench after Jak Alnwick was dismissed for a wild challenge on Cannon.

Luthra did well to initially palm away the resulting freekick, only for the rebound to fall kindly for Evans, who duly tucked home.

Dissecting the action for ITV's EFL highlights show, Courtney Sweetman believes the youngster could have done more to prevent the goal.

"The keeper that comes in [after the red card] is coming into it cold. He's got to do better with the freekick.

"It's got to go out wide and not back into bodies. It's a tap-in."

Host Hugh Woozencroft was in agreement, adding: "A goalkeeper sent off for the second straight week. Not great, of course. Rohan Luthra, the goalkeeper that came on for his senior debut, maybe had a moment to forget.

"He'll have to have a big game next time out."

It was a good save by the youngster, whose defenders were not quick enough to react simple as that. :bluebird:

What a great way to destroy someone’s confidence. Don’t criticise him. He did well to get there. Criticism should be levied at

1. Lack of killer instinct to kill the game off with the dominance we had for much of the game
2. The defensive lapse that led to the goal.
3. The defensive lapse that allowed Alnwick to get in a mess
4. Alnwick for the red
5. Not clearing the ball after the save

Bad day at the office for us. No one to blame but the whole team for the result. Luthra absolutely not to blame for his small part of it.

Very poor punditry. Defenders far too slow to react, Ched Evans was already on the move when the freekick was taken. Head up Rohan!

We were one nil down anyway and playing injury time and a 21 year old kid comes off the bench cold to make his debut to face a free kick just outside the box. And he gets criticised. A new low in punditry

Nothing else to comment about so have a go at a young player who did well to get to the free kick in the first place, another two lazy journalists, its the defenders need a boot up the bum... too slow.

He made a good save from the free kick & if anyone is to blame there were half a dozen Cardiff players just stood there scratching their arses & watching the rebound become a goal rather than do any actual defending. Or maybe blame Alnwick for getting sent off in the first place.

Perhaps best development for us to pick him In the first eleven now ?

I've seen top class keepers deliver the same error and worse.

I remember David de Gea dreadful mistakes and weak moments in his first season , and now ?

Harsh but fair.

Should be instinctive for a goalkeeper to get it out of harms way especially considering how much they train for it to do the absolute basics.

Wasn’t helped by his defenders though being slow off the mark
