“ Two City players injury prone? “

My View:

Both do have qualities and are Championship players / BUT

I would not keep Connor Wickham for next season, for the last 10 years he has never completed 20 league games in a season, very unreliable and we seem to always sign these type of players.
He’s hardly been here and already getting injured.



The last couple of seasons I have noticed Ralls continues to be in and out of the team through continually minor injuries.

Professional sport is brutal, as the rugby lads are finding out.

Both players have talent but it is about whether are you willing to pin your season on them.

Joe is a 100% never back out lad and has been a credit to CCFC but as a player in 2023 availability means he is a squad player as the injuries and knocks have caught up with him, we can't just rely on him.

Connar is class, he is the reason for our mini revival, having a genuine top end championship 9 is massive as we saw yesterday. He was thought to be a premier league but injuries have not been kind to the lad. IMO he is worth persevering with but on a low salary high bonus. Its whether he would want that.

We take these risks as we are shopping in poundland nowadays so have to take gambles. If Tan sells then that may be another story.

I think it’s particularly disappointing with Wickham because I think he’s been excellent when he’s played, particularly against Bristol. But if we can’t get more than 25 games out of him we can’t built a team/formation around him so he’ll only ever be a bit part player.

It’s a real shame because you can see his quality.

As for Ralls, I was amazed that we gave him another contract and his performances this season have only strengthened my view. The added issue of regular injury absences just make him somebody that we really need to move on from.

Wickham was a low risk til end of season as we were desperate,everyone knew what we were getting and fair play to him he played well against Bristol.
Ralls is on a downward slide but every manager still seems to believe in him to have some part of this club.
Far to early to say who we keep an not for next season.

With Wickham we could offer him a very low basic wage enhanced with a decent appearance bonus. I doubt he'd be offered many long term deals given his injury record

It could be just very good management of the players. As someone else has just said todays game is brutal on the players and resting them is a good way of keeping them fit long term. The case I would make as an example is our former captain Mozza. Straight in to the Rotherham first eleven and now crocked again for this season. Having a large squad and rotating them seems to be the way to go now.

We don't even know what the injury is. Could be back next game.
If he's low wages I'd keep him. He's brought alot to our team.
