Match Of The Day - Tonight .

Sat Mar 11, 2023 10:45 pm

What an Embarrassing performance from the BBC tonight - Who we pay our TV Licence to

No one in the studio - which we all knew... But No cometary in any of the games on who scored - VAR etc ... :o

At least SKY would talk you through what happened and why decisions were made in their round up .

Is this the way forward ... Unbelievable ... This Country

Keep it like this going forward. Done and dusted in 15 mins and saves a fortune in presenter, pundit and commentator fees :D

I've been in work today and we were showing the Rugby on ITV and have just found out from the News tonight ...

The BBC today replaced Football Focus with Bargain Hunt and Final Score with - The Repair shop

What is going On :? - This Country

Didn't watch it, decided to watch the highlights through the Sky Sports app this week. At least there was commentary.

Some saying they enjoyed it with no analysis, no commentary, no interviews. I don't know who they think they're kidding. If it was like that every week, nobody would watch it.

Exactly. You can get the highlights from Sky on YouTube for free the minute the games are over. There’s a reason MOTD has survived this and it’s the punditry

How anyone enjoyed the 20 mins tonight is beyond me - No wonder the kids of today watch other TV stations .

This era of "woke vs offended" is pathetic.

Where does it say no one wants match commentary. It’s the relentless and inane warbling in the studio that bores everyone to death.

Re: Match Of The Day - Tonight .

Got to be honest I usually record and put on half hour later so can skip most of the studio bit. Although without commentary I thought it was shocking, like someone else said in sure anyone could have put a voice over that

I did my own running commentary. It was Alan Partridge-esque and humorous in parts. Needs some work, but then again Lineker was shite when he first started.

perhaps we will now appreciate the value of the normal programme, it was dreadful.

Missed the commentary but didn't miss the studio crap.

I have not watched motd for years I thought and with the news im right it is now the Gary lineker show I much prefer looking at highlights on youtube I hate Lineker and his big head.

Not having him on the show must have been an improvement in my view

This is so BBC. They take a position then compromise it to an idiocy level. That was fit for nobody.

They should have just canceled it altogether, you either broadcast something worthwhile or nothing at all.

MOTD is for the over 45's. Those who grew up with it. My kids watch the highlights on their phones, they are more interested in the You tubers analysis than some players they never saw play.

If you are into the stats then the analysis is shit, and if you think stats are boring and pointless then the analysis is tiresome and boring. As if Shearer and Micah are slaving over three high powered laptops analyzing each game :D

The BBC produces programs that they think the public should have, not necessarily what they want.

It wouldn't be a bad thing for the BBC to give up premier league football outright. Its a public service broadcaster and there may be other outlets that may do free-to-air highlights a better service.

Should my 75 year old mother who has never been remotely interested in football or rugby be expected to pay for something that offers her nothing ?

The BBC role is up for debate and i think the narcissist may have pushed it a little further down the decision lane.

Watched the rugby yesterday and had no idea if it was on ITV or BBC, should the BBC be competing for prime time sporting events is a big question with so many ways to view sport nowadays.

I didn’t see it. Cardiff are in the championship so of no interest to me. I’d imagine it be a refreshing change and like someone said above might save a shed load off money.

Seems freedom of speech only applies when someone agrees with what’s said. The halfwits who wanted Clarkson “cancelled “ back Lineker and vice versa. Linekers hysterical comparison diminishes what the real Nazis did and is the politics of simpletons, who believe everything is a simple linear left right thing. I despise Lineker and disagree with everything he says, however if we value free speech he should be allowed to retain his job with the BBC. BTW he’s being chased by HMRC for just short of £5m and his position on this could help his case.

The comparison with Germany shows his complete lack of historical understanding or perspective.By the way this is the man who readily took Qatari money whilst hundreds of impoverished Asian workers died or were maimed for life on the corrupt world cup. What a phoney !!

Not interested in all the analysis anyway, Much better way of doing Motd

These days I never watch "match of the day" (always in bed at my age) but Lineker does get on my pip, especially his views and how hypocritical he is with the Quater world cup comments but sold his soul !!!

Very interesting that on TV this morning it says that viewing figures for MOTD last night were up by 800,000

Could that be curiosity about no presenters on show or perhaps a celebration of no Lineker ? :?:

Bigger attendance without Line Acre.

Unfortunately Lineker appeals to the type of twit who spends their time on that crap. Those who deserve to have a say are too busy holding down three jobs.

I imagine it was only bigger audience because everyone wanted to have a look what it looked like with out presenters and commentary. It won’t last I shouldn’t imagine.

They couldn't cancel it. They're contractually obliged with the Premier League to show highlights of games on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

So they had to put some sort of highlights show on. Like I said, I didn't watch it this week and watched the highlights on the Sky Sports app with commentary. But I heard it was awful.

Same again tonight apparently.

Some saying they enjoyed it with no analysis, no commentary, no interviews......

You mean like going to a match with only the opinions of those around you to listen to?

I wasn’t aware of his tax dispute and went looking.
Saw this from 2021 https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... m-tax-bill
Maybe he’s not so principled, and part of his strategy in his fight with HMRC.

Same again last night with their coverage

Newcastle keeper Pope - Why was he not sent off ??? From the highlights ( who knows what was going on )

At least they had commentary from the Ladies football - straight after ;)
