Player ratings v Crystal Palace

Tue Sep 28, 2010 9:40 pm

typical rainy Tuesday night performance sadly, not a lot of quality on shop but lots of hard work I thought.
Fair play to Davids as well who at 37 still has a bit of energy.

Heaton 8 - thought he looked solid and made some great saves
McNaughton 8 - strong in defence and got forward
Hudson 8 - His best game since Leicester away, very solid today
Blake 8 - excellent game and added that needed bite in defence.
Naylor 7 - dodgy 20mins and got some stick but stuck to it and did well, good going forward, great cross on him.

Witts 6 - His passing not quite on it at times but kept going and even made a few tackles
Oli 7 - not at his best but covers the defence and is so important
Koumas 5 - didnt really do anything
Burke 7 - kept going and going, felt if we were to score it would involved Burke

Keogh 6 - worked hard and had some good moments but never felt he was a goal threat
Jay 6 - nothing came off but looked like he should have had a pen.

A side note I thought the atmosphere was better tonight than saturday?

Ref was awful

I still cant get my head around the trend of booing at games personally, its only started the last few years. Today wasnt the best game but I didnt see many players not trying. You pay your money and your entitled to do what you want but personally I think it sucks.

It was great to meet a few faces from here in the Ninian, apologies it was only a quick 5 mins but will see most at Leeds away now :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Now sadly im off to work for the night

Think you were far too kind on Naylor. He was turned inside out again tonight. EVERY single chance they had came from him being beaten.

4 of our back 5 had good games today. Naylor howver was skinned several times again. he as to be dropped now. He looked like he was carrying something and we looked far more solid when Quinn came on - he put in a lovely solid tackle right in front of us toward the end.

Our midfield though. No energy, no movement, no pace.

Heaton 8 - good handling and nice point blank save
McNaughton 7 - solid again
Hudson 8 - lots of good tackles, blocks and headers, distribution was good (although Palace backed right off)
Blake 7- picked up the scraps well, won most of his headers although one lost header almost ended up in a goal
Naylor 3-nightmare again beaten 5-6 times before withdrawn

Burke, 6-can't beat a man at the mo, so feckin weak as well. At least TRIED to give us some width
Keogh 5, offerred nothing, also powderpuff.
Whittingham, 6 flitted in and out, lots of poor passes, but DID make some tackles.
Oli, 5 looked off the pace and gave it away a lot, hopefully just rusty
Koumas - 5 hardly saw the ball out wide, did one or 2 nice things, but looked short of energy
Bothroyd - 6, would have had a 7 if it wasnt for the silly booking. Again looked our only real threat

Agree with most, although id give koumas a 4, he did nothing and didn't look like he gave a toss, whittinham a 5, his distribution was pathetic to say the least. And bothroyd held the ball up well on times and tried to create things but he looks our only threat 7.

city have no ideas how to break teams down,i prefer the 4-5-1 when oli and drinky are involved with 3 creative players otherwise we dont know what to do,no imagination or movement tonight, everything went central with little dinks here and there that were very rarely to a city player, jay looked like he couldnt be bothered AGAIN,Keogh was slightly better than saturday, oli and koumas looked unfit, super kev would be premiership if he didnt pick up so many injuries and heaton pulled off 2 great saves

heaton was great. hudson..(i am one of his biggest haters) was very solid again, as he was last week.
Koumas just hasnt got the right mindframe and does not look good out wide.
jay looked frustrated at the lack of support around him, a few time the long ball went up and he was isolated.

Keogh was poor again so Jay gets frustrated and loses site of his own game, also to get out run by edga Davids Keogh has not got pace and is no replacement for chopra , tonight and saturday we missed Chopra so much and I think we will see better from oli and koumas when 100% fit.

Hudson did well and man of the match was Heaton

A disapointing night
