What a stupid rule this is
If an outfield player handles the ball it's a free kick and probably not even a yellow
But if a keeper handles the ball it's red
WHY??
Sat Mar 04, 2023 2:49 pm
Cos it's the law.

I know, and I say this as a former referee myself, what is the difference between Philogene handling the ball midfield and a keeper handling the ball midfield.
It should just be a free kick and maybe a yellow

Also if the keeper handles outside the area and stops a definite goal opportunity should it be a pen.
I know obviously it isn't but should it be

A one-match ban for Ryan Allsop (v Preston away next weekend)
Well done, Rubin Colwill as his replacement for the remainder of today's game...

Be good to see Alnwick have a chance, sometimes things work in mysterious ways.

McGuiness needed to get out of the way, but with both centre backs there, Allsop didn't have to come out. Silly. Great performance till then.

Allsop is getting a bit of a calamity with his mad charges off the line.
He did it earlier in the game and was very lucky to get away with it. You would think he would learn not to do that again and take risks like that, especially in the 92nd minute with the game won.
I'm pleased Alnwick will have his chance, he has performed solidly in the cup games and saved a penalty.
If Alnwick performs alright, I see no reason why he shouldn't step in for Allsop permanently, as Allsop has been making far too many mistakes lately and needs a kick up the backside.

Now we know ng can step up we don’t need a sub keeper so can pick more out field players for the bench

Can we please appeal and get him banned for longer

Allsop made two great saves in the game which had a massive impact on the result, his sending off didn't impact the final score.
I'm not sure why people are glad he's unavailable.

Stupid decision by Allsop. Two central defenders covering the through ball and he comes charging out (not for the first time) and gets himself sent off.
Chump.
Stuck to his line when he should be coming to collect crosses and corners and then comes running out of his area like a tw*t when he should be allowing his defenders to deal with things. Very poor judgment.
And why the f**k would anybody clap him off the field? The idiot could have put us in real trouble if the resultant free kick had gone in - hopefully Alnwick can take his chance and unless Alnwick makes a massive cock up next week I hope Allsop does not automatically come back into the side for the West Brom game.

I think the people who do not rate him as much as you may rate him are giving an option over many games, I have recently seen him described as a ‘ghost’ as direct shots seem to go straight through him

all thoughts on this board are just peoples

opinions/take on things. The main thing is we are finally going in an upward direction

Is it just a one match ban? Nick Pope got banned for 3 games for the same offence

Nick Pope also received a
one-match ban (the Carabao Cup Final) for the same offence; the key point being it was not '
violent conduct'
It's an oddity for goalkeepers, as they are deemed to be the same as '
outfield' players once outside their box but the penalty for '
handball' is an automatic red; regardless of whether they prevent a goal-scoring opportunity or not...

I just watched match of the day and saw that he was playing.
I’m sure people were saying that he was banned for 3 games though. Glad it’s only one game cos although Alnwick is decent it’s always best to have 2 layers of confidence

I think if either Pope or Allsop had blatantly denied a clear goalscoring opportunity then it would have been a three game ban, but that wasn't the case for either incident.
