Millwall’s U21’s have been led by former Cardiff City striker Kevin Nugent since 2017, having previously managed Barnet in League Two earlier that year. As a player, Nugent spent 5 years in the Welsh capital between 1997-2002, and scored 29 goals from 99 league appearances for City in that time.

The Lions have been defeated only twice this term, and are unbeaten in seven matches, when they were defeated 2-0 by Swansea City away from home. Since then, Millwall have drawn four and won three of their fixtures, most recently narrowly defeating Ipswich Town on February 17th.

Cardiff lost 5-0 at Millwall last October.

U21s Manager Darren Purse previewed the fixture ahead of Tuesday's match against the league leaders, as he looks for a return to winning ways at home.

"We know how Millwall play, and we're not expecting them to change it up on Tuesday," began Darren. "They're in your face, physical and like to go forward with the ball and put you under pressure. From our last meeting earlier this season I hope that the boys have learned what to expect from them when we next face them at home.

"Getting a point last time out was good for our confidence, coming off the back of a couple of defeats and getting a point against Swansea City. It gives us something to build from going into what will be a tough run in towards the end of the season."

These games are just for getting players fit and giving youngsters a chance to show they can get into first team squad...its very difficult because rarely same team twice in a row..always loads of changes and therefore results are inconsistent.
Watching today and Colwill is struggling fitness wise but basic passing is poor...Campbell also ok in in patches the others are not making an impression.
HARRIS is the only one that will get near first team Saturday .
Some of the younger ones are doing better King Mcnamarra and Benjamin stand out.
Don't take too much notice of results its performance that matters really however the ones on show today need to improve a lot if they want to trouble the first team squad .

Good second goal after mistake by Millwall, 3 first team hopefuls off Davies, Colwill and Harris all played an hour, team will benefit rest of this game losing those 3 who were not really committed, just going through the process of getting minutes under their belt.

Cardiff 2 Millwall 1 53 mins

Seven First-teamers out in force for under-21s win:

Mark Harris was one of the four scorers as Cardiff City Under-21s downed top-of-the-league Millwall at Leckwith this afternoon.

The Bluebirds fielded a side packed with first-team experience, including Vontae Campbell, Joel Bagan, Eli King, Harris, Rubin Colwill and Isaak Davies.

And Harris was the first on the scoresheet as he stuck his first chance away with aplomb. He picked the ball up on the left before skinning two players, cutting inside and firing into the far corner.

The Lions then levelled through a Frankie Hvid header, but City then regained the lead after the break thanks to a 30-yard lobbed effort from Cameron Antwi.

Harris, Colwill and Davies all made way after the hour-mark, allowing substitute Owen Pritchard to rifle one into the bottom corner after some neat work from Antwi in the build-up.

Millwall closed the gap again late on thanks to a Seb Drozd goal, but City made sure of the three points when Pritchard fed Chanka Zimba in the box before the striker rounded Joe Wright in the Lions' goal and tapped home.
