Firstly, yesterday shows we need experience to help in our fight against relegation. Harris, Davies, Bagan, Sang, Colwill, King not even named in the subs.
Secondly this shows that, managers, starting with Morison and now continuing with Lamouchi dont seem to see any quality in our kids.
People will go on about Rubin Colwill, and he is the best of the bunch, but he has never showed an ability to change a game. He needs better players around him and needs to really have a run in the team when we are better positioned in the league.
If the injuries to O'Dowda, Robinson and Philogene are worse than we thought, we may need to use them, but at the moment they are out of the picture and for me that might need to remain the case until we are safe.

Agree - in a dog fight you need seasons pros who have been there and done it. Maybe the odd youngster is exceptional.
Working with youth footballers you are lucky if you see one player decent player come through the ranks every couple of years at our level, not a whole side like they were saying. It was cost cutting to the extreme and not for footballing ability.
I still don’t see the fuss with Colwill I think his moment has passed with us. Would you trust building a side around him like most people were on about earlier in season - I wouldn’t.
The academy now that’s a whole new topic.

To a certain extent I agree with what you're saying but I remember colwiill and Isaac Davies changing away games at qpr and forest last season so they can do it. At present they just aren't consistent enough to warrant a place in the squad.

I think Davies is the best, unfortunately he's been injured.
Etete is only 21.

They are just not tough enough and that's our fault.
At 19 they should be loaned out for a season at a pretty low level and learn the professional game. Colwill & Davies didn't have that schooling and it will hold them back.
King should have gone lower, none of them are ready to be starters in a championship.
Mark McGuiness (youngster ?) would have been in the same age group as Colwill and Davies and is already a noticeably different player from the start of last season, our lads haven't had that schooling.
They need an extended run of games and they will not get that in the championship. McGuiness did and he benefited, but that was through need and his form dipped quite a bit as the season rolled on, but came on for the experience and handled Carrol really well yesterday.
Not sure what we do with Bagan, Colwill and Davies for the best.

Sadly it’s now looking like we have produced virtually zero quality youngsters in the past 13 years. Those that have been thrown in virtually have all failed and the couple that did make a name for themselves now all 21, 22 ,23 yrs plus and just don’t seem to be what the managers want and need and see them helping us.
Gutted really as I would of loved at least 2 to have made it regularly.
For me once your 20 plus years old, you are def not a kid in football and should be a regular by now if your really going to make it.
And this season the U21’s & U18’s have been awful.

Let's be honest none would be anywhere near the 1st team bar davies it's only the fact we have had injurys and stuff we have had to play them due to lack of options given more options like currently none will even get put on the bench it seems. That tells me all I need to know with the clowns in power in boardroom level bigging them up when it truth we had no other choices at the time due to slashing budgets but to push them through and this whole reported "youngsters" saying baffles me if your not a regular by 20 your not good enough in most cases

The position we are in. We can’t afford someone that “may come good”.
We need good. Etete is young and raw but he’s also
Better than any of our own players (Davies excepted who has been injured most of the season) and even he isn’t guaranteed a start. If we were cruising and safe you can put them in and see how they go. But we are a long way off that.

Ian, absolutely spot on.

If we stay in the Championship it will be interesting to see what happens to current crop. How many will be released or sold? It needs a clear out. I still think Colwill and Davies may have a future with the team but no one else. I am not sure Tanner quite has the necessary talent either but we will see. We did just sell two of our very promising youngsters to Premier League clubs so maybe not everything is completely desperate with our set up. We'll never know what they might have become with City.
I also think its a pity that Morison did not have longer as U21 coach as under his tenure things were greatly improving. Is Darren Purse part of the problem at the moment with the U21 team?

They have still be playing for us till the end of the season.
Be interesting if they really make it.
Steve Morison was great at that job.

Don't be surprised if Harris gets a Wales call up over Bradshaw (Millwall), Mullin (Wrexham), Evans and so on
He’s 24 yrs old and had 7 managers at Cardiff and none rated him as a striker.

Well, well Done to him but he has failed badly as a goal scorer for Cardiff, Newport, Wrexham, Port Vale.
Gives 100% but not a striker.
