Reading boss Paul Ince told Sky Sports:
"I think a big decision didn't go our way in the first half (Mark McGuinness not being sent off) you've got to be honest and say so.
"Referees will always make mistakes but they are paid to get the big ones right and he bottled it and got it completely wrong.
"He's got to make a decision, but it's a blatant red card and it's a poor decision.
"But that doesn't take away from the fact we were poor. It was our third game in six days and it showed.
"But the red card is poor refereeing. We've had this referee a couple of times and he's been poor.
"It was a great chance for us to nick a point, but we didn't put in enough effort and desire.
"But it comes back to the failure to give a red card, it's a diabolical decision.
"Well done to Cardiff and we move on."

Can understand why he’s angry. Only chance they had of beating us was if we were a man down.
They were awful.
Fri Feb 17, 2023 10:33 pm
He was lucky. But we have been on tbr wrong end of far more dodgy decisions than that this season.
Fri Feb 17, 2023 10:41 pm
I agree with Ince, deffo red card for me, but, we've been on the recieving end of other poor red card decisions ( QPR away).
We've ridden our luck, but nobody can deny we deserved our win today and that Reading were poor.

Can’t argue with anything he’s said there

Didn't mention the fact on another day Carroll could have been off in the first minute. He looked at Perry b4bleading with his arm, at least a yellow. Mcguines a bit lucky ill grant you but he did try to pull out of the challenge.
Fri Feb 17, 2023 10:59 pm
It was a red card, but my god reading where awful think we would of done them with 10 men as they where that bad
Fri Feb 17, 2023 11:04 pm
I said red straight away, we were lucky and perhaps they do even out over a season

Not the (self-styled) Guv'nor tonight, was he...?
Won't be a Guv'nor at all soon at this rate...
Without the benefit of Sky replays, I saw the so-called 'red card' differently to most, as it was a strong but winnable challenge from McGuiness...
What did it for me, was the 5 mins of "
I'm dying, ref!" gamesmanship from their no.27 afterwards, who was simply taking the sting out of the wave after wave of Bluebird attacks
He hobbled up the field limping, got the 'come back on' from the ref and sprinted on like he was Linford Christie...!
Great and deserved win for the Bluebirds and Ince must be frustrated his team almost held out for the draw they so blatantly came for...!

Nobody cares Champagne Charlie, 1-0 get over it.
Sat Feb 18, 2023 12:41 am
We also played 3 games in 6 days, understandable fatigue if we hadn’t, but we did so neither had an advantage from it

Spot On .

I watched the game back and Andy Carroll could easily have has a red card for grabbing NG around the face in the first few minutes! Bo mention of that by Ince., well deserved win for the Bluebirds tonight and a much better atmosphere in the CCS

Can’t argue with any of Ince’s comments but Cardiff didn’t give them any time to settle on the ball…lots of energy across the park.
Reading were dreadful like Birmingham but 6points in 4 days !
Nothing else matters .
Sat Feb 18, 2023 8:11 am
Should have been 10 a side then as old man Carroll would have had a straight red in poncy premier.

Or maybe we have made these teams look bad! 2 clean sheets ,no shots on target by Reading, improved attacking stats for Cardiff. ..looks like the manager is making a difference. Great to see how the players reacted to the goal and the win ....hope our injuries aren't too serious

What a tool he is
Mcguiness got my vote last night for the tackle he made that wound up the little sh.t ince up during and after the game
Interviewed after the game he said there was nothing in it between the 2 teams
The fact we overran them in the first half
hit the woodwork twice in the 2nd half and scored
I know he has a turn in his eye but did' nt think it was that squiffy.

It was a red but we deserve a bit of luck for a change. Ince has mentioned it once or twice, and of course they were the only team to play 3 games in 6 days love 'em. Their keeper was a tw*t for getting in the refs face demanding a red card too. Never liked Reading and with Ince in charge I like them even less.

When does Inch ever not complain.?He has the dirtiest crafty player in his side A Carroll. Well done the team let's move on no more winging inchs to worry about now.

Haven't seen the replay but as Sven says, their 27 was rolling around like an amateur actor and it was obvious to all he was taking the momentum out of our attack by his shithousery. How the officials don't punish for this is unreal as it's so obvious and after his 5 minute death throws, he gets up, limps 3 times and then sprints onto the pitch whilst smiling at the booing fans.
Saw the Whinging Ince interview in the pub after and even with subtitles, you could see by his expression he was up to more shithousery but this time getting his excuses in for his side sliding down the league, as he knows their poodle fans want him out.
We owed them for the loss at their lifeless sterile bowl too so all good.
We need more physicality and shithousery in our game plan too and I think we will

Jules, I've now watched it again and my mind hasn't changed. It was just a robust attempt to win a 50/50 ball that the Reading player took full advantage of once it was given...
The word '
cheat' is always a strong one to use but their #27 (Mbuenge) took it to the limit with (at best) '
gamesmanship'
I just hope that some above (some of who I know weren't at the game) take their comments back and say so on here after being so quick to try and dumb down what was a great performance and a great win...
What on Earth do some people want...????

Spot on, mate. The Reading fans didn't want him to start with but rather like Mick McCarthy here, he confused them with an initial winning run before gaining a contract and reverting to type, i.e. a self-opinionated failure of a manager
They were pretty scathing after the game; or at least those few who stayed after the goal were...

I think he has a point! Luck goes around, we had a sending off for a penalty that wasn't even a penalty at QPR.
