" Qatar buy Premier League club "

Thu Feb 16, 2023 5:14 pm

According to reports in the Middle East, the Qataris have bought another football club.

They already own PSG and now also own Manchester United.

They are technically two different owners in charge of PSG and Manchester United, due to the fact one owner can not own two clubs who compete with each other, but both ownerships are funded by the Qatar state.

Bit dodgy when two clubs in the same competition are both funded by the Qatar state.

Has it gone through though? The last thing I read was that the Glaziers wanted offers by a certain time today otherwise they were going to keep hold of the club until the summer

Reports in the Middle East suggest the deal is all but done.

Jim Ratcliffe also apparently bid but he missed the deadline with Chelsea so still doubts about him within Manchester United.

Whoever ends up owning them, they'll have a fan base expecting them to spend hundreds of millions. The owners of Chelsea and Manchester City have spent ludicrous amounts, United fans see themselves as the superior club and have high expectations. If I had the money, not sure I'd want to take on that expectation and responsibility.

I thought the reason Drakeford went over for the World Cup was to drum up eome business for Wales?

Surely that should have included persuading some of their oil barons to launder some of their money by purchasing the City?

I read the glaziers were asking 5 Billion. I'd be interested to know how much profit the Glaziers are making by effectively doing nothing but keep Man Ure tick over for a few years. The club hasn't won much at all during their tenure either.
Just done a quick google search and a source claims the Glaziers paid 1.4 Billion U.S. dollars.

Seems the reports from the Middle East that a deal has been done are a little premature, but it has been confirmed there has been a bid from Qatar to buy Manchester United.

Jim Ratcliffe - Never wanted Chelsea ... He used them as a smoke screen to get the club he loves ...Man Utd ;)
I Remember the reporter asking JR - why the interest in Chelsea and not Man U - Who you support ??
Answer - Man Utd are not for sale at the moment ;)
