“ Three potential buyers for Cardiff City “

Tue Feb 14, 2023 10:00 am

I have been told that Vincent Tan is insisting on Proof of Funds for £60m - which is a clear indication of his start position on any sale of the club.

Apparantly there was a genuine interest from David Sullivan, who is negotiating to come away from West Ham United. However, he has cooled because of the sort of money Tan is demanding via the City Chairman Mehmet Dalman.

What is likely fudging the picture on any deal is the Championship Membership and Solidarity money altering - currently upwards of £9 Mill per year, before TV match money. EFL executive Rick Parry is pushing for 25% of Premier League income to percolate into the EFL which, of course, would raise Membership and Solidarity monies further.

Plus I know for a fact in the last 2 years there has been an offer put forward from a second buyer and at three different times and at increased offers , Tan has turned these offers down, I don’t know if it’s personal or what?

The 3rd offer was an American based company who offered but after seeing our books withdrew the original offer.

If Tan keeps to his demands then in my view, it’s madness as he states he loses money monthly and if? Relegated we will be worth a lot less.

Don’t forget the reason why we lose so much money and the debt is so high is because of how our club has been managed for 13 years.

Also the last few remaining Tan fans say it’s better the devil you know, well this Devil is slowly killing us and has NO love for our club or fans and his Regime , well you all know how the majority feel about them.

Also all the promises of building our youth Accademy for the future etc??

The current state of our Under 21’s and U18’s is awful.

Where are all these promising youngsters in our first team squad?

Like I said in a previous post Tan is slowly destroying our club

Admitedly I don't know many of the facts but imo VT should be looking to offload at the first opportunity. He's clearly lost interest and if the stories are right about him bankrolling us he surely needs to take a bit of a 'hit' on the asking price in order to get out before he loses potentially a lot more.

I would try Martin to get a cut -price deal for anyone rather than these three clowns.

Even you must admit it’s time for them to All go.

I can see the point of quoting quite an inflated price just to see off chancers with no money.

But hopefully that price should (oddly) be lower for interested parties who have vast footballing experience or are known to be minted.

Whatever the thoughts on Sullivan, he has half decent football history.

Dont fancy yanks anywhere near us looking at other clubs and how they are fairing

Excuse my ignorance here but does this Proof of Funds of £60m mean that is the asking price?

Re: “ Three potential buyers for Cardiff City “

Tue Feb 14, 2023 1:10 pm

£60m seems like a sensible figure for proof of funds.

Don’t forget, the outlay doesn’t stop at the sale price there will also need to be a way of raising funds for further investment.

Therefore anyone with capital of less than £60m would have to be a time waster.

The one big thing we have in our favour above other clubs looking to sell is the covenant that the council insisted upon for the ground to only be used for sporting purposes. That would put off any asset stripping cowboys, venture capitalists, etc. So well done the council !!

Only have to look across the EFL to see some of the disasters that have occurred due to the lack of proof of funds.

Say what you want about Tan and the lack of recent investment and possible loss of interest (which I think is probably true at this point), I don’t think he’d sell us to crooks.

Got it.

It’s definitely time for a change, but I wouldn’t fancy Sullivan taking over as I doubt he would invest much squad wise. Can’t blame the Americans for not buying if they don’t feel comfortable. It would be interesting to know who the third option is and what’s in the way of buying. If it’s Sam, what would his intentions be. Would he be prepared to invest in a better squad, and does he have the financial backing to push us forward.

Thought Drakeford would have sold someone the dream whilst he was in Qatar.

I wouldn't mind Sullivan to be honest, got the money, knows football and has the contacts.

Rumours are Sullivan will sell is share up in March to the share owner who owns 27%, reason something comes to a end ( think it's something to do with tax) and that's when it will benefit Sullivan

If Gold and Sullivan sold before 2023 they would have to give the legacy corporation 20% as part of the deal to to use the stadium.

Wo der if Gold's death has enhanced Sullivans leaving or made think harder about staying on.

I assume the best scenario for us may be a WHU survival and a City relegation especially if the asking price is too high.

They may have to pay a bit more, if we play like that we are staying up :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

There is a agreement in place for the sale of David Sulivans shares in March if both parties agree to it still doesn’t mean he’ll invest in the City though

NO 'best' scenario involves us getting relegated...

Annis, i'm doubting you for a minute, but every few months we get news that there are potential buyers but Tan either won't sell or is demanding too much. I honestly cannot see us selling the club until Dalman is repaid, or if we are a league one club. i just dont see anyone coughing up the sort of money Tan is wanting

What I am saying is 100%.

Tan is very stubborn and once he decides on something, he very rarely budgies abd he has a price in head and he has not budged, yet he continues to lose money.

that was meant to say "not doubting you for a minute" my bad, but i just don't see him selling unless we are league one or Dalman is paid out first. i don't know how it works, does he own 100% of the shares in a club ? if not, can someone else buy the other shares, i don't know how it works but does he own 100% of the club ?

I definitely wouldn't want David Sullivan in charge, he's obsessed with money. Moved West Ham to a soul less bowl, probably at great personal profit. Tried a subtle rebrand of West Ham to make them more of a generic "London" club and wanted to tinker with the the badge just to be more appealling to football "consumers" in Africa and Asia.
Be interesting to see what West Han supporters think of him.

No problem :thumbright:

Tan owns 94% of our club, he controls everything and NO has even us feeling fans who have the other 6% in shares.
But by bit he diluted everyone
