Connor Wickham deal on brink of completionCardiff boss Sabri Lamouchi says he hopes to have Connor Wickham available for Tuesday night's trip to Birmingham City.
The Frenchman saw his side go down 3-1 to high-flying Middlesbrough on Saturday but it will be the clash against the Blues where he'll be more accurately judged.
Having more firepower on board should, in theory, help Cardiff in their quest to wriggle free from the Championship relegation zone and a deal to sign Wickham is now on the brink of completion.
On the prospect of the 29-year-old free agent signing, the Bluebirds boss said: "
I hope he will sign very quickly. I hope to have him for Birmingham City.
"Let me talk about the players who are available for the club. As soon as he signs we will put him in the squad. How he can help us. He is just a Championship player, with his experience, his goals and he is strong and has quality as well.
"That's why we are trying to sign him."

Good news.
He has a bad injury record but he can score goals. I know it's in League One, but he scored 6 in 16 games for Forest Green this season for a team that's struggling.
It'll be a short term contract until the end of the season on low wages, so it's definitely worth a punt.
Low risk and gives us another option which we need.

Absolutely, Ned; when fit, he certainly knows where the goal is...!

An honest question, but how is it taking so long to wrap up a deal for a player without a club.
Everybody, player, club, must know its only to the end of the season, and prob pay as you play, so what is the hold up?

Could be last minute negotiations, or fitness checks etc maybe

Don't get it myself, it was quoted the other day he was desperate to sign for us.
Perhaps we are out sourcing proof reading contracts and insurance as obviously the club cannot get it right.

Not wanting to jinx the lad even before he is here, but if he does come....if he gets injured, again then we are stuck with him, particularly if long term injury, makes no sense at all.

When did he need to sign to play tomorrow. This deal seems to be taking a long time.

Warnock will nick him.

The problem we face is having to deal with FA and WFA. Welsh FA are renowned for being slow to process transfers.

That's why it's a short term contract for three months. Not on much money either so low risk. We wouldn't be stuck with him for a long time if he got injured.
You could say there's a danger with signing anyone that they could get a serious injury.

Average of 4.4 games/goal over his career.

Surely worth a punt until end of the season

We are always long winded when it comes to something like this
