Players down

Sun Feb 12, 2023 3:03 pm

On two occasions yesterday Boro had a player down recieving treatment but neither player left the pitch, the ref allowed them to play on, have I missed any rule on this? I thought all players had to leave with the physio and wait to be called back on.

Law 5 states: "The player can stay on the field of play if he/she was injured as the result of a physical offence for which the opponent is cautioned (yellow card, YC) or sent off (red card, RC) and the assessment/treatment is completed quickly. Otherwise, the player must leave the field of play."

Another example is where an injured player may be treated on the field of play when a penalty kick has been awarded and this player will be the kicker... :ayatollah:

Both times for me they were tactical stoppages, it was about 30 minutes into the first half and twenty minutes into the second half and both times when we were on top for a period.

As soon the players went down all boro players went straight over to Carrick.

From memory the first stoppage the player was off the pitch but then went back on and then went down injured.

Something Cardiff need to learn is game management and also start appealing for decisions - we don’t get the marginal ones cause we don’t appeal.

I don't think our players were booked on those occasions though
