Got to be worth a gamble with so little of the season left and so few options surely ?

He certainly has the ability it’s just a matter of whether you can keep him fit enough and on the pitch.

We will take anyone at this moment, we really are desperate, clubs like village sides Forest Green have more ambition than us nowadays.

Wez,

Nothing to lose give him a chance, at this current moment we could even give a striker from places like Sully, we can’t do any worse as the present lot could not score in a brothel or get pissed in a brewery house.

I have to say in front of goal, we are the worst I have seen in 51 years of my watching City.

Proven goals. Proven experience. I'd be interested to know why Forest Green didn't progress, anyone know?

He became injured again and Dean Whitehead offered him rehabilitation with City’s physio’s with a chance to sign for us.

City’s Defence has been very good.

But if you don’t score all means nothing.

He couldn't do any worse than what we have at the moment. Can he take a penalty & actually look like he's trying ?

Only 29. Seems like he's been around forever.

We need him if he can score goals because wat we have can't.

He was going to be the next big thing at one time. I cant see what we have to lose on this one if he is stays fit. Got a few goals this season in a very poor side. The side is good enough to stay up but the lack of a big man up front is costing us dear. He offers us that option if Sory Baba- who know very little of- is either injured or doesn't come off in that role. Huigill would have great but that bird has flown.

That explains what happened after his trial. I certainly thought it was a little odd it all went quiet...

A good call with a short contract. We've tried to sign him in the past and what have we got to lose?

We should have taken a punt with Martin from the Wurzels

Re: Cardiff City to Sign Free Agent / Striker ?

Had a look at the survival stats for the last few seasons and we need to win 7 games out of the remaining 16 for approximate safety or the equivalent points tally. We know what we have to do to improve and if he can chip in then let's get him in and anyone else who can too, we really don't have time to eff around and he's available.

If he can add goals then get him in.

However in my opinion we need a midfielder to link the middle of the park to the guys up front because at the moment we are trying to go down the wings or lump it upfront to try and win a header which ends up going nowhere

Someone who can run or pass through the middle

I would guess that wages would be a factor in signing him. There's better out there but given our position in the league they are unlikely to want to come here plus they'd probably want more than Tan is willing to pay.

If its the only option left then so be it. We are now on the brink of the relegation zone. Just sat here remembering the days we had Ross McCormack on the bench and Whitts to feed the strikers.:banghead:

I know he's only been playing with a relatively poor side and injured but even if he comes on for a few games it feels silly to overlook someone who has been at championship standard. If they got him on pay as you play even better, no need for a multi year deal, just keep us up!

On a short term deal until the end of the season it's worth a punt.

Kaba had a promising debut and I hope he starts on Saturday. But ideally it would be good to have another option, especially if Kaba gets some sort of injury.

Cardiff weighing up move for free agent

Cardiff City are deciding whether to offer free agent striker Connor Wickham a contract with the club.

Wickham, 29, left League One side Forest Green Rovers last month after his short-term deal came to an end. The striker had interest from a number of teams last summer and even had a trial at Reading before joining the Gloucestershire-based side.

Wickham was keen to get games under his belt after years of being ravaged by injury hell. In his 20 games in all competitions for Forest Green this term, he scored nine goals. Now he is understood to be looking for a new challenge.

It is understood first-team coach Dean Whitehead helped to bring the former Premier League striker into the building before Sabri Lamouchi was appointed Bluebirds manager.

The player underwent rehabilitation with the Cardiff physios with a view to training with the Bluebirds, however that now appears unlikely as the club would be liable for any potential injuries caused should he suffer any while training with the team.

The centre-forward's injury record is clearly a concern for Cardiff, with a short-term contract likely to be the only way this deal gets over the line. He has played more than 20 league games in a single season only once since the 2013/14 campaign.

However, it all hinges on Lamouchi's assessment of the player. Cardiff are desperate for extra firepower in the squad and managed to bring in only one striker on deadline day in the form of Midtjylland front-man Sory Kaba.

Connor Wickham,

The big issue with Wickham is injuries. Can he even cut it at this level now, given he has struggled to string an entire season together for the best part of eight years. It's the question mark hovering over the whole deal. He hasn't played in two months and even when he arrived at Cardiff City last month he had to spend time rehabilitating with the physios.

How frustrated were fans when Jonny Williams, a player plagued by injury hell, signed and then got injured almost immediately, before never really featuring for the club thereafter? The supporters' ire was the same for Isaac Vassell, another player with a poor injury record who managed just three games in three years for the Bluebirds. Lee Tomlin came in for similar treatment at times from fans.

Granted, this is different to the latter two, with any deal likely to be only until the end of the season. So perhaps the liability regarding lost wages is more of a moot point in that regard. So, worth the gamble, then?

Well, we have seen mid-season free agents come in and make an impact. Think back to Junior Hoilett and Sabri Lamouchi's current assistant manager Sol Bamba, their acquisitions proved to be a masterstroke by ex-boss Neil Warnock.

Pay as you play for me only.

Can’t see it being pay per play because he’ll know he’s only coming as backup.

Wages until end of May would be minimal in the scheme of things so what’s the risk really ?

Some very good players on this list world wide.

Sign him up he can score goals. We have fussed about with the great Cardiff hope (Colwill) for months with nothing to show for it even half fit he could still score. The problem is by the time the Board take to make up their mind the season will be nearly over.
