WHAT IS THE POINT OF OUR ACADEMY ?

Mon Feb 06, 2023 9:00 pm

Mr tan
wanted us to produce our own players and building up facilities etc but for what purpose ?
we have recently let 2 potential stars go to manure and citeh
And nobodys is getting a look in to the 1st team
Has mr tan been on the phone remonstrating about the lack of anything
Or has he changed his mind again.
Just not seeing the purpose normally you would exspect at least 1 player breaking through
Should we go brentford way and scrap the whole thing

There again seems to be no long term plan.

Let them go? What do you think we should have done to stop them ?

A club can’t stand in the way of a higher grade academy coming in for youngsters. That’s the rules. All you can do is try to mutually negotiate as high a compensation fee as possible with the incoming club. If you can’t agree i5 goes to tribunal.
Sadly it’s a 1 way Street

"Let go"? Wasn't it ~1.5million for a couple of youngsters?? That is academy doing it's job. Feed the first team, or feed the bank balance.

Whereas Utd and City have 'the pull' there is no pull or desire to stay with us at the moment.

If I was a kid with talent first thing I'd want to do is jump ship from this circus before it ruined me.

Sunderland have a wonder kid... 15 or 16. Playing 1st team Championship football. Scored a week or so back I believe. He has a choice too. Jump ship with them or stay for a bit to develop. He chose the latter ( at the moment).

Thats the difference, he is encouraged to stay, excited to stay... our lads, even at their age, want out, and who can blame them.

I have to say for the last 13 years we have produced virtually zero.

Then we produce two 16 year olds and sadly under current laws as soon as they are 17 they could leave as our club has NO ambition who could blame them if they had walked.

Personally if they really are that good they could of featured in a couple more games, we could not do any worse and we would of got more than the over all £1.5mill we received.

I keep wondering where our sudden 10-12 apparently future stars that Dalman Chairman & Glen Williams Media Wales have all gone??? as we hardly ever saw them?

Plus every-time we keep hearing we have some great players aged 18,19-22 years old we keep sending them off to the Non League, League 1 and even as low as Welsh League football.
Guess what they virtually never return to become established Championship players.

AS TO A PLAN / LONG TERM / THIS LOT HAVE NONE.
