Rubin Colwill absence explained and he is not just in the first team, but not even in the match day squad:
As with Steve Morison, it seems Lamouchi isn't quite convinced that Wales international Rubin Colwill is ready to start games week in, week out.
Colwill was a noticeable absentee for the trip to East Yorkshire, with the Cardiff boss seemingly hinting that the youngster is behind others in the pecking order at the moment.
"It was a tactical decision," he said. "Nothing against him. Last time he was in the team he came on in the last minutes. I like the player. I like his quality.”
"But I must make a choice and with Kion Etete, Sory Kaba, Mark Harris and a midfielder. I get more of a choice. How many games has he played? How many times has he started? Don't put more pressure on young players with quality. We need to find a different spirit. Not from one, but from all. It's different."

He’s not good enough, simple as that. None of them are.

I agree. Most overrated player for a while. Simply not the talent the odd flash here and there that’s shows a bit of potential. Would rather have the tomlin or 4 years ago

Clearly something is not quite right. This 'he needs to be managed' nonsense has got very tiring. This is his opportunity to break through this season and he has so far flopped. He needs to buck up or we cash in- if we can. Currently we wouldn't get much. For me Isaac Davies has always had more potential because of his pace. I think he can still impact this season too if used in a wide position.

It's not a coincidence that manager after manager doesn't think Colwill is good enough to start.
He does well now and then, normally when we're on TV and the spotlight is on him - like against Liverpool in the cup last season and when he plays for Wales.
But other times when he does get his chance to start or even come on as a substitute, he flatters to deceive and seems to put in minimal effort.
He's not a kid anymore, he'll be 21 in a couple of months. This season was the season he should have been breaking into the first team on a regular basis and it hasn't happened. No signs that he's going to break into the first team anytime soon either.
If someone offers money for him in the summer, I think the club should take it. He may well do well at another club but it's clearly not working for him with us and doesn't look like it will.

League one player at best spends more time on the floor than a fourth rate boxer

There’s definitely something wrong with the guy be it physically or mentally but I believe he has the talent to become a decent championship player.
Whether this happens or not is down to him in my opinion.

Wales on line... Colwill didn't travel to East Yorkshire, well who the hell was having a fitness test with Davies in front of the Cardiff fans before KO. I must be getting old as I swear it was Rubin Colwill.

Its going to take some brave coaching to allow Rubin to fulfill that early potential.
I do think the height and weight he has put on has slowed him down too much as an attacking midfielder, so it's either a 9 or sitting midfielder and now is not the time to experiment. If anyone should have gone out on loan to a L2 club its Rubin

He looked very lethargic and slow when he came on against Luton. Didn't get into the game. I believe there is a player there but not sure we will ever see it. He could do maybe a run of starting 3 games in a row regardless of performance to get upto speed?
