Apparently Cardiff City wanted £700,000 for Striker:

Sun Feb 05, 2023 4:49 pm

A report states Cardiff quoted Blackburn Rovers £700,000, which put would-be suitors off. Mark Harris will be a free agent this summer when his contract expires, with Rovers' scout Gus Williams' connection with Harris from the Wales camp a factor in their interest.

Cardiff were willing to let Striker Harris leave the Bluebirds but when Blackburn, Stole and Wigan enquired about the striker they were all put off by the £700,000 price tag.

Wigan were said to be very interested too before the window shut, with a swap deal with the Latics' Joe Bennett touted as a straight swop.

None of the clubs actually offered any money.

Mark Harris aged 24 has been with the first team for 6 years, scoring 9 goals in 82 appearances for the Bluebirds.

WOULD YOU OFFER STRIKER MARK HARRIS A NEW CONTRACT?

4 years ago Harris was sent out on loan to League 2 Newport County and made 16 appearances, scoring 2 goals.
Then Port Ve making 6 appearances / 0 goals.

Then 3 years ago Cardiff sent Harris out on loan to Non League Wrexham making 24 appearances / scoring 3 goals.

The last two seasons Cardiff have made Harris one of their main strikers.

Mark Harris contract runs out this June and so far City have not offered the striker a new contract.

A very hard worker, always gives 100% and can be very useful to bring off the bench when looking to hold onto a lead (remember those?) or hold onto a point.

Unfortunately he doesn't score enough goals and as a forward that's how he'll always be judged.

I think we need better so if he left I'd wish him well but wouldn't be upset in the slightest.

I like Mark and think he offers us something going forward. I know that you always make a lot of his goals to games ratio Annis but how many of them appearances were off the bench and how many was he actually playing on the wing and not up front? In fact has rarely played as a no.9 since he partnered Kieffer Moore up front a couple of seasons ago and had a good spell towards the end of that season under Mick McCarthy’s reign. I’d rather Harris over the ineffective Ojo who frustrates the hell out of me when I watch him play.

To be honest he has been a prospect for at least 5 years now and it's time to accept the fact that apart from a lot of running around he doesn't offer much else, if he was genuinely a good player then he would have shown it now wether it be on the flanks or through the middle. His decision making is not good his crossing or balls in the final third aren't good and his finishing skills are poor. Hopefully if he leaves the club he will kick on and become a decent player from a Welsh football perspective but I don't think it's going to happen at city

Yes offer him a new deal, he's more of a winger to be honest. With more desire than both Philogene and Ojo, so play him on the left and O'Dowda on the right

He is over priced as a free transfer. He should train in a farm yard practice trying to hit a barn door first then move on to goals.

The only reason that Harris has not had his contract extended is because of money. Our club dont want to spend the cash to keep players like Mark Harris. Otherwise it would of happened already. I personally would keep him because he would help us get out of League 1 if we do go down.

Club are living in a different world if they think he's worth that.

As said above, he works hard but ultimately doesn't have the quality.

We'd have been lucky to get £300k for him. As he's out of contract in the summer, clubs who were interested are probably in talks with him and his representatives already so they can get him for free then.

I don't think many fans will be that disappointed to see him go.

Played in the right position I’d definitely keep him.
Especially with our current predicament he’s a very good squad player.

I think he could be an asset in league 1. next season but maybe the Championship is beyond him should a miracle happen and we stay up.

We gave away a youth/U21player to Manchester for £500,000 last week who never played for the 1st team ???

£700.000 for a player who has played Championship and International football - What do they want

Couldnt hit a barn door in non league or even league 2. The fact that he's anywhere near a championship squad still amazes me to this day.

The way things are going, he won't be near a championship squad next season.
