" Sometimes I wonder "

Sat Feb 04, 2023 6:40 pm

Sometimes I wonder if some supporters on here actually watch the games. Seen one post already tonight saying that we should change the manager after two games because apparently we're already relegated. Seen others say we're "as good as down" already.

Those comments are massive overreactions.

Tuesday was very poor but there was an improvement today against a Hull side who are just four points away from the play-offs, they're not a poor team - neither are Luton.

The new manager has been in the building about a week and has already had two tough away games when he'd probably rather have had more time to focus on training and to work on things with a team that is very low on confidence.

Yes we need results but let's not pretend we're ten points from safety. It's still very much in the balance. We are two points above the drop zone, albeit Huddersfield and Blackpool have games in hand.

There are 16 games to go, that's 48 points to play for. There is plenty of time for the manager to steer us away from danger but it was never going to be a quick fix.

We have a week now before our next game and that will give Lamouchi plenty of time to work on things with the team.

We have plenty of winnable games in these last 16 matches and we are far from "as good as down".

You make some fair points but having seen both games I have to disagree with you on one point - both Luton and Hull were bang average teams - their positions only serve to show how poor the division is this season.

The two "good" teams are running away with the top two places and those behind them are all much of a muchness.

One goal in our last seven league games tells a sorry story. Without goals we're going down no matter how it's dressed up.

Some people expect miracles right now ,
Totally agree he’s got a week to train them I think we will have the first win next week and gain confidence from that

Whilst I try not to use such terms, I broadly agree and applaud Ned (Worcester_ccfc) for writing what many are thinking!

Whilst I understand much of the Tan rhetoric, it grips me that so many take the time and effort to both 'slag' and 'write-off' the club/players they claim to support...

We all know there are 'problems' and we largely know the 'causes' are a cacophany of alarm bells that have been increasing in tone since Malky. They temporarily receded during the fortuitous reign of Neil Warnock but have since steadily increased once again

It's getting pathetic now and we know the main culprits; some of them (maybe not 'them' ;) ) tend to appear together and are deliberate in their words and actions

Slate Tan all you like; he's made himself a fair target; but get behind your (so called) team and leave them with no doubt you stand with them in the battles that lie ahead, if we are to maintain our Championsip status for next year...

It's easy to support a club on the crest of a wave but it shows 'loyalty' to stick with ot when times are tough

Stick with it; it's what any club's real supporters would/should do; even in times of hardship...! :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

I'm 99% certain we will go down. I don't think Lamouchi has enough time to turn this around. He has no window but I believe he can bring in out of contract players. He has been given a new striker that no one knows much about and it feels all faith has been put in him. Then look around the clubs that we will be fighting against. All have strengthen. So let me ask the question if you have to put money on us going down or staying up where would you put it?

We need a playmaker. That's literally it.
Defensively we are decent enough. Or slightly tweak the formation. Play diamond midfield, 2 up top with wing backs.
There are solutions.

I think it's quite right and proper that there should be a debate about where the team are and whether they can stay up or not.
What is most unfair is the continuing rose tinted glasses efforts by some (Sven) to stifle debate by claiming its some how unloyal it is to slag the team
Again he claims to speak for many, (are you a spokesman for a group?) as if those like me (i can only claim to speak for myself) who are more pessimistic are in some ways less of a supporter. Blind faith based on what we have seen this season are only straws to clutch at at the moment and you are welcome to clutch at them .
Every week our position on and off the pitch become more laughable. The signing of players the manager hasn't even seen by people who don't know what their doing, a one for the future signing whose not even fit and injury prone, the sacking of yet another manager. A dire league position and an inability to score a goal even. Those are the realities of the situation and people like me who are unhappy because of those things have every right to call that out and not be slagged off because we are full of blind faith.
It's a common tactic for those that want to enforce their own unrealistic points of view when the facts stand for themselves!

I agree everyone is entitled to an opinion:

Goalkeeper - Fine
Defense - Centrally we are fine fullbacks not, NGs distribution is poor and injuries on the other side, Romeo is fine.
Midfield - no energy, no pace, no drive
Wide men - inconsistent, very very very poor delivery.
Upfront - Not good enough, Kaba looks promising and Etete is improving, looks stronger each time I see him, but a year away from where he needs to be.
Bench - nothing to add, Colwill massively overrated.

Manager - he needs to be given time even if we go down, he needs to build a team through pre-season.

Executive board - needs to change as I've previously posted, needs a fans rep and a real football person.

Owner - divorced from the club. If he invested ten million in the squad with a decent manager we would genuinely have a chance in this division that is average. Probably Watford were the best team I've seen imo.

Invest 10m get 200m in premier League. Don't spend money when you go up, spend 20m when you come down, rinse and repeat... At some point invest more when you stay up and grow the club. Then sell the asset for more. That's what I would do in Tan's position, be open about it, there's no guarantees but at least it's a strategy.

There are not many businesses on the planet that cut their way to success!
