Have you seen Kaba play?

Shortly. Shortly. I trust the people in the club. They chose him. They gave me many names. We signed him and I’m happy with this new player. So I’m just waiting.

Lamouchi

New striker Sory Kaba aged 27 has three goals in 14 international games for Guinea. He has two goals in 27 games for Danish outfit Midtylland this season.

SABRI LAMOUCHI:

Just one signing - have you got enough in the squad?

We must do. We want to play the Championship next season. The season will be fantastic at the end if it finishes like this. My focus is on the next game. This team was in a similar situation only a few months ago. I’m asking everyone to improve themselves and give a little bit more.

Lamouchi

First six days... how has it gone?

In reality it’s three training sessions and one game. It’s an unbelievable place. It’s a bad moment and bad situation but I’ve received a warm welcome from everyone. I really appreciate it. The club should be in another position but we have to change something. The results are what they are. Like the last one. I can’t complain about the players because they fight and they try. We compete. It’s difficult to play on this pitch at Luton. Maybe physically. Maybe mentally, we lose the game. The small details make the difference. We don’t have a lot of games, so we need to improve and be more focused. I want more quality. It’s not about quantity, it’s about the quality. All games will be different games

Do you need to score first?

I think so. We’re thinking about that. We’re working on that. It’s easy to say, but it’s harder to see on the pitch. We just need to be more competitive. More aggressive. They were upset after the game in Luton. That’s exactly what I want. That’s significant. They tried and didn’t agree about the result. We must try more and do more and have no regrets for what we’ve done.

Kaba - what does he add?

Probably something we don’t have. We’ll see because he’s not here. He’ll probably arrive before the end of the day. The squad is about quality of options and which way you want to play. Transfer window is closed. A new player is here. Just one. We must go until the end like this with this squad. We must find a solution and get us out of this situation.

Scope for free transfers?

The free transfers is a gamble. We need the players ready and the players to help us. I don’t have time to look around. But if we have some good opportunities and ideas to add players to this squad then great.

The players on free transfers aren’t training with a squad. We have to think about when they would be ready to play with us. We have to know when they’ll be available to play with us.

Kaba free for Saturday at Hull?

That’s what I’m saying. I need to see the player face-to-face. I have this report about him. Different country. Different league. Different time as well. The last game he played was in November. We have a lot of questions. Only with him here will we have the solution and the best way to use him. I don’t want to take a risk.

Won’t be ready for Hull then?

I don’t know. He’s not even in the building. He’s not in Cardiff. After his first session I can answer and say when he’s ready to play. For sure he will travel with us to Hull because he has to get to know the players and staff and the club.

What do you need from Hull?

Same spirit. Focus on the details and try to push the physical aspect. Mentally not giving up and to try to believe in what we are doing.

Luton and Hull are different places but if you score first, especially for us, it can be hell.

Why has this squad struggled?

Many reasons. Did you think I would tell you the reason? It’s not the time and it’s not for me to tell you that. I’m happy to be here and happy to work with them. In the situation we’re in, we have to change something.

Hull - team news

(Callum) O’Dowda had a gastro bug. He trained yesterday. His first session with the group. It was good. So no problem for our game.

In terms of free transfers - has the club identified any targets at this stage?

"Look. Kevin (Beadell), the head of recruitment, is a very good guy. He’s working out for the club. The club are working out to find the best players and the best solutions for the team. I believe in the club and I believe in Kevin. I believe in the chairman. I believe in all the people here to find the best solution for the club."

"So, it’s not time to complain. It’s not time to ask. It’s time to do. So we have a lot of things to do. First, my job. And the players as well. Each person here in the club should do the same because what we want, all of us, is to play in the Championship next season with Cardiff City. That’s it. The rest - good opportunities - why we don’t sign this one. Why we don’t sign that one. Why we don’t find a solution. Maybe, asking this question, you know the result. You know the answer. I know you guys don’t want a bad situation and you want to find a solution to help the club out of this situation."

Might you perhaps have to look inwards? U21s etc

Probably. Probably. But there are 17 games to play. We must focus. This is my job. To focus on this game. Game by game because after Hull we play Middlesbrough. A lot of tough teams in tough games and each point could be really important. This is my goal. The rest is just talk. We must focus on what we can control. I have control of my players that are physically here in the building. I prepare with my staff the best training before Hull City. I try to put the best line-up. The best team and get the best performance and I hope for a good result. This is our goal. Nothing else. The rest is not my job.

Graham Stack has left - can we expect any further shake-ups?

No. For the moment we will stay like this. We changed the manager. The assistant came with me. We need more players than people in the staff. So we need to focus on that.

some really tough fixtures there, but lots of those teams will also be under pressure for different reasons, let’s take advantage of that :ayatollah:
