SABRI: " WE TRIED TO PUT IN A PLAN "

Wed Feb 01, 2023 10:04 am

Sabri on Luton game: "We tried to put in a plan. But we didn't start very well. I saw the team losing a lot of simple things; control, passes. In the beginning and at the end."

"I think we deserved to score first, but in this situation we need to stay focused, to try to keep calm."

Asked if he learned more about why his team was struggling this season, he added:

"No. I know. But I will not tell you why."
"I will try to work on it and be positive, because they don't give up. They miss a ball, they lose duels, everything is not perfect. We have to work hard."

"This is our season and we need to know that we must fight until the end. It will be really difficult, but there have been just three training sessions and one game."

"I will try to change something."

Sabri when asked about transfer window:

"Good question. I don't have any news about that. I will be happy with more players and quality, because we are not enough.
"If not. We will try and find a solution with the players in the locker room."

Asked if he would dip into free agent market:

"Good question. I need to talk with the club. They know exactly what we need. Not what the manager needs, what the team needs. We will see tonight and probably in the next day."

Sabri Lamouchi:

‘I need to find the best solution, the best system, the best players and the best way to move on. It's really important to never give up and to fight until the end. We need to work, but I saw positive things. We will recover, have training and another game at Hull.’

Lamouchi:

“I think in the first half we deserved to score and we didn’t. Ryan saved a penalty and we were probably thinking we were close to the clean sheet, to the point and to the draw. We need to fight until the last minute. I’m disappointed for the boys because they fought.’

Think he’s realised quite quickly how “soft” we are

We lose way too many 50/50’s and get brushed of the ball way too easily

He’s got a big, big task on his hands because at the moment I don’t think this team is mentally or physically strong enough to get out of a relegation scrap

In years gone by this team would have been called a team of pussies. No fight no backbone. You certainly wouldn’t want any of them in the trenches with you.

Thought there was a bit more bite to them just bloody unlucky at the end, Luton werent all that just got the goal at the end. Ng was poor and Colwill when he came on offered nothing at all.

I like what he said about what the team needs rather than what the manager needs.

I know it’s semantics but that squad is our team. He clearly knows wholesale changes aren’t possible but he can build. Starting with that team we already have.

He spoke very honestly imo.
He's indicated he's going to make them fight to the end, which I believe they did.
He's indicated that he needs to find the right players and system to use. That's the answer I like to hear. :bluescarf:
