MY VIEW: SABRI LAMOUCHI’S FIRST GAME IN CHARGE AND AFTER CI

Tue Jan 31, 2023 9:39 pm

MY VIEW: SABRI LAMOUCHI’S FIRST GAME IN CHARGE AND AFTER CITY HAD NOT WON FOR 11 GAMES, TONIGHT CITY NEVER WON YET AGAIN & LOST IN THE 88TH MIN, BUT DESPITE BEING OUTPLAYED FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE GAME, CITY GAVE EVERYTHING / BUT IT WAS NOT ENOUGH

To lose in the 88th min is cruel, but thats football

Virtually all Luton, but City's defence was really solid including saving a penalty and never really looked like conceding or even scoring and then a free header in 88th min bang City conceded 1-0

its now 12 games without a win, Hull City away next.

It is very worrying still as City are right down there

City did look solid tonight and gave everything :bluebird:

Sabri Lamouchi: "It is a massive club. I am here because of many reasons, the timing, i was free, doing nothing, the connection with the people here and the quality of the squad."

The teams in the bottom 3 now have 2 games in hand over City

FIRST-HALF: Even though Luton virtually dominated the game and looked a very good side and were attacking Cardiff for 90% of the half, City had 3 shots on target & Luton only 1 as City's defence was solid.

An improvement as City had 3 shots on target.

SECOND-HALF: Luton were once again all over Cardiff, but in the 70th min Luton had a penalty, but thankfully Alsop saved it :thumbright: :bluescarf: :bluebird:

76th min: Mark Harris off, Philogene on.

Ralls off, Colwill on.

GOAL! Luton Town 1-0 Cardiff City (Adebayo 88)
Goal. Adebayo with the header.

LUTON TOWN 1 CARDIFF CITY 0
H-T 0-0
Crowd 9,031
Away Support 544 Cardiff fans :bluebird:

Cardiff City : Cardiff City XI: Allsop; Ng, McGuinness, Kipre, Simpson; Wintle, Ralls, Sawyers; Ojo, Robinson, Harris.

Subs: Alnwick, Benjamin, Rinomhota, Colwill, Philogene, Etete, Davies.

Luton virtually dominated with City counter attacking them, Luton by far the better team, City defended well.

H-T 0-0

Luton were once again all over Cardiff, but in the 70th min Luton had a penalty, but thankfully Alsop saved it :thumbright: :bluescarf: :bluebird:

76th min: Mark Harris off, Philogene on.

Ralls off, Colwill on.

GOAL! Luton Town 1-0 Cardiff City (Adebayo 88)
Goal. Adebayo with the header.

Late goal specialist we are becoming only wrong end.

I think the fracas at the end is down to sabri and bamba trying to get a bit of spirit in the side and not before time.

Really hard to take losing again like that. Genuinely thought we'd nick it 1-0 not them. Other than the pen I thought we had the better chances.
Can't really judge lamouchi on this game, he hasn't really had any time with the players. Which isn't his fault

Best part of three weeks to sort out some decent loans and a cutting edge, yet again another blank sheet
Yes the players are trying , but no quality in the final third

What is it with Colwill? He can hardly run!

I will question their ability but never their effort, most are not very good.

Whatever we do in the 1st 2/3rds of the pitch it doesn't make much difference without any goal threat. Been the same all season and logic says it's not going to change.

Better team won. Good effort but not quality.

Won't judge the manager off this position, will see how he does after ten games.

Desperately need that striker tonight.

I usually dislike highlighting one player but how bad was Sawyers tonight?
Shocking, as was Ralls and wintle.
You could clearly see how frustrated Robinson and Ojo were. No striker would have made a difference tonight

Sawyers is an absolute joke, he can't make a simple pass to one of his own players. Whitehead must have picked that team cos Lamouchi couldn't have had much time with them.

I've been saying this for a while, he doesn't look interested. He is or was a decent player not too long ago.
Out of all the signings he was the one I expected something from.
Agree on Whitehead comment

He will have to make do with signing without the S.

Looking at that table
does' nt look good all teams with games in hand and the teams below us signed 3/4 players each

Tue Jan 31, 2023 11:23 pm

Luton are joint third on the league because they have a habit of winning, the opposite is for us.

The game was poor, I think it’s the worst I’ve seen Colwill but that’s a credit to the impact he’s made previously. Ojo doesn’t seem strong or fast, so a few times just got out muscled. Wintle had a great chance to put us ahead, some of the rest was half chances but they only had 1 good chance other than the penalty and scored it.

Sabri didn’t have long to prepare, new striker in so let’s see what Saturday brings, Hull are a team we need to beat, if we get points from any of the top 8 teams it’s a bonus, but have to get results against teams nearer our position

Re: MY VIEW: SABRI LAMOUCHI’S FIRST GAME IN CHARGE AND AFTER

Tue Jan 31, 2023 11:46 pm

I agree with what has been said previously, especially about Sawyers. He was dreadful again, and what worried me about the new Manager, was that he didn’t substitute him. Ralls is too one footed and had another poor game, as did Wintle tonight. One thing I WAS pleased with tonight, was that Sabri has cut out the dreadful passing out of defence which was awful to watch. There is no way that Sabri can be judged on this performance, and I hope that, with our new striker, he can play a more open system with O’Dowda and Isaac Davies out wide. I wish him well, and will get my full backing for the rest of the season.

We are going down. Changing the manager with this team is just moving deckchairs on the titanic. The signing of a totally unknown striker to help fight relegation is just pathetic. We need two or three to freshen things. Fully expect to lose again on the weekend. No chance. Grim but Tan deserves what he has created.

It's hard to think of a more frustrating player than Ojo.

Looks a talent, has talent but far too often overshadowed by being too casual, poor control and terrible touches. Never going to change, is he?

Re: MY VIEW: SABRI LAMOUCHI’S FIRST GAME IN CHARGE AND AFTER

Wed Feb 01, 2023 8:34 am

Ojo had one good shot but takes far too long on the ball. Sawyers also did some decent stuff but needs a rocket up him. I thought Ng and Simpson were awful but McGuinness immense.
