As cruel as it is for the academy to lose talented prospects so early, the other was to look at it is that they’ve made a relatively substantial amount of money this season. How will they choose to use it? Cover running costs for a couple of years? Cherry pick category 3 players?

I bet the money has just about covered the running costs for one season. Only another 12 sells to go to break even.

That’s also 1.5 mil for 2 players, neither of which are first team. So no weakening of the squad. And no guarantee at all they will make it at the top level

There is talk of Harris going. He IS first team. We won’t be getting 1.5 mil that’s for sure. We sure didn’t get it for Nelson either.

It’s great that a player can step up to the first team from the youth system. But if they don’t at least we get some money for a few.
