Dean Whitehead admits Cardiff need help in the transfer market to get out of this rotten situation. Said they are close to signing a No.9.

"But you know, ultimately, the squad needs help. We need help. We need players in to freshen up the squad. And if we can do that, then we will. If it's possible.”

Asked what position the club was close to signing, Whitehead replied: "A number nine."

"We want to try and get strikers on the pitch and in the building, so that's our priority at the moment. To get people in who can score goals."

The Millwall loss was Whitehead's second game in charge following a 5-2 FA Cup defeat at Elland Road in midweek.


When asked what the latest was regarding his communication with the board, Whitehead replied: "The latest one was last night that you know, prepare the team, make sure you do everything you can, which we have, and hopefully try and get some points and unfortunately we didn't, so that's as much as I can give you."

The boss said he could not give any more information on when a manager might be appointed, however it would seem logical for the club to make that call sooner rather than later, with the end of the transfer window getting closer and two weeks until the club's next game.
