Little confused

Just read that Cardiff claim that Sala was not a Cardiff player when he died. Yet claiming against the insurance com they should have insured him straight away when he became a Cardiff player so they can't have it both ways.

All the court hearings have stated that Sala was a Cardiff player hence the payment of £7m and the claim against the insurance company.

Are the insurance company trying to have it both ways?
